On Friday, October 10th, Michelle Lawrie, Executive Director of the Door County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC), will be making headlines—and climbing heights—for a good cause. Lawrie will spend part of the day on the roof of Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant in Sister Bay to help raise $5,000 for the United Way of Door County. Lawrie currently serves as the Board President for United Way of Door County.

Wisconsin Cheese Masters is partnering with Open Door Bird Sanctuary (ODBS) for the fifth year to raise funds for the Jacksonport sanctuary’s educational programming and raptor care.

ODBS collaborates with Thirsty Cow Taphouse on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2-5 pm, 7899 Cty A in Baileys Harbor. For the second time this year, a portion of the day’s drink wall profits will contribute to the fundraising efforts.

Sunshine Resources of Door County is excited to host the 6th Annual Sunflower Fest on Saturday, September 13. This event is held at Martin Park (207 S. Third Avenue) in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.

The day begins with the Door County Walk To End Alzheimer’s. 2 mile walk through downtown Sturgeon Bay, starting and ending at Martin Park. Sunflower Fest begins at 10 am featuring music by Big Mouth and the Power Tool Horns from 11 am – 3pm. Corn hole tournament limited to 32 teams with cash prize for top three teams.

Free kids play zone with bounce houses, obstacle course, games, face painting and a special appearance from the Door County Ghost Busters. Enter the cherry pie eating contest for your chance to win some great prizes.

Peninsula Players Theatre, America’s oldest professional resident summer theatre, opens the fifth and final show of its 90th season with Robert Harling’s “Steel Magnolias,” a hilarious celebration of friendship, heartaches, and hairdos! This beloved and moving comedy runs from September 3 through October 19. Performances are Tuesdays through Sundays at 7:00 p.m., except on Sundays, September 14, 28, October 5, and 19 at 2:00 p.m.
