Thank you for understanding a challenging April.

This is an amazing photo, right? Well, The Alaska Press Club judges agreed and awarded our own Kari Rain with a first place in outdoor photography. This was the cover photo for the April 12, 2024 issue of the SN.
Other wins include our resident columnist, Andrew Cremata, who wins just about every year, with a third place in outdoor columns. The Skagway News took third in weekly newspapers (judges liked the layout) and Gretchen Wehmhoff took first in short features with "Curious driftwood art found on Jersey shore" in the June 16 issue (next to a once in a lifetime photo by Kari Rain)
Smiles all aorund.

I have an agreement with new, experienced owners. We will announce the change in the next April issue. In the meantime,
I am continuing the Alaskan to help the new owners get adjusted and keep the tradition going so they can focus on Skagway.
Health has been challenging, but there is a good prognosis
Thank you for all of your support. I hope you are as excited as I am. The new owners of The Skagway News are committed to a print edition and utilizing local writers. I am sharing all information about current columnists and contributors because they are the heart of the paper and will be included.

It’s been a journey and several local residents and neighbors explored the option with vigor and curiosity, but it just wasn’t going to work for them at this time. I know they truly care about the SN.
The new owners call this a dream come true. I will do what I can to help with a smooth transition.

There is no April 11 paper because I could not afford to print it. I’m still recovering from knee surgery and will try to get invoices out so I can pay for the next issues.
Please be patient with me for the next two weeks. There will be another April paper. I will call Alaskan advertisers to confirm the Alaskan.

Congratulations, Lance!
