In 1933, a group of Chicago Jews took over Soldier Field — not with a football game, but with a 6,000-person theatrical pageant tracing 3,000 years of Jewish history.
It was called “The Romance of a People,” and it was a Broadway-meets-Bible, Torah-meets-spotlight spectacle. There were torch dances, choral chants, a giant Moloch idol (yes, really), and a vision for a Jewish future in Palestine.
125,000 people came to see it.
It raised $100,000 to rescue Jews from N**i Germany.
And then… it was mostly forgotten.
Until now.
