On 08/08/2023 at 1009 am Murray County Dispatch was notified of a pursuit initiated by the Worthington Police Department. The pursuit was initiated due to the vehicle being stolen out of the City of Rochester. The pursuit was northbound on Highway 59 heading toward Slayton. Murray County Deputies joined in the pursuit just south of Avoca. The Slayton Police Department was able to successfully deploy spike strips just north of Slayton near Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The pursuit continued north on Highway 59 to intersection of Highway 30. The suspect vehicle attempted to make a right-hand turn onto Highway 30 and struck another vehicle waiting at the stop sign. The suspects immediately fled into a near by corn field. Responding officers and deputies were able to set up a perimeter around the corn field. After about 1 hour and 20 minutes, 2 juvenile males were taken into custody and charges are pending at the time of this release. Several homeowners in the area were notified of the incident and advised to remain indoors for a short time, however there is no on-going danger to the public.

The Murray County Sheriffs Office was assisted at the scene by; Slayton Police Department, Buffalo Ridge Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, Worthington Police Department, Nobles County Sheriff’s Office, Pipestone County Sheriff’s Office, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, City of Marshall Emergency Management, Marshall Police Department, and the Murray County Ambulance.

Please be careful on the lakes this holiday. The following was received from the Murray County Sheriff's Department:
On July 1, 2023 at 10:48 a.m. Murray County Dispatch was notified of a jet ski accident on the north side of Lake Shetek.

Murray County Deputies and emergency personnel were paged to Schreier's Campground on Lake Shetek. The Deputies learned through their investigation the accident occurred when two jet ski's collided. One jet ski (Jet Ski #1) was being operated by two juveniles and the other jet ski (Jet Ski #2) was operated by a single Juvenile. The operator of jet ski #1 made an abrumpt stop and jet ski #2 collided with jet ski #1. The operator and passenger of jet ski #1 were transported by the Tracy Area Ambulance to Tracy Hospital. The operator of jet ski #1 was later airlifted to the Sioux Falls Hospital, condition is unknown at this time. The passenger of jet ski #1 was treated and released from the Tracy Hospital. The operator of jet ski #2 was treated and released from the scene.

The Murray County Sheriff's Office as assisted at the scene by the Lake Shetek First Responders and the Tracy Area Ambulance.
