Ukraine’s Zelenskyy says Kyiv ‘geared up for clear and honest work’ as U.S. pushes for progress on peace plan. on Tuesday it was reported that a secret peace deal was being drawn up by Washington and Moscow, media outlets reported a breakthrough could be imminent.

The Kremlin said on Friday that Russia has yet to receive official communications from the U.S. on the plan, according to news agency Reuters. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, however, reportedly said Moscow was open to talks.

Zelenskyy said he had met with a high-level U.S. delegation on Thursday and engaged in “a very serious conversation.”
“The American side presented its proposals — the points of a plan to end the war — their vision,” he said.

Zelenskyy added in his statement on Thursday that Kyiv “will not make any sharp statements,” and that he expects to speak with U.S. President Donald Trump in the coming days.

“We are fully aware that America’s strength and America’s support can truly bring peace closer, and we do not want to lose that,” he said. “The United States has the power to ensure that Russia’s willingness to end the war finally becomes serious. I will continue working for this one hundred percent.”

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia announced on X Friday she will resign from Congress early next year, after a weekslong falling-out with President Trump and much of her party.

Her last day will be Jan. 5, 2026, Greene said.

In a statement, the hard-right congresswoman expressed frustration with her party and with the change of pace in Congress, writing that GOP leadership had refused to work on addressing health care costs, and bills that she drafted on immigration and other issues had sat "collecting dust." She said the "legislature has been mostly sidelined."

She also pointed to her dramatic break with Mr. Trump. The president pulled his support from Greene last week, calling her "wacky" and a "traitor" after she criticized Republicans' handling of several issues. She has claimed that Mr. Trump was set off by her push to disclose records related to the late convicted s*x offender Jeffrey Epstein, which the president previously opposed before endorsing and later signing a bill to release the records this week.

"Standing up for American women who were r***d at 14, trafficked and used by rich powerful men, should not result in me being called a traitor and threatened by the President of the United States, whom I fought for," Greene wrote, saying her "self worth is not defined by a man, but instead by God."

On Mr. Trump's threat to back a primary challenger in her deep-red district, Greene said: "I have too much self respect and dignity, love my family way too much, and do not want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President we all fought for, only to fight and win my election while Republicans will lose the midterms."

"It's all so absurd and completely unserious," she said. "I refuse to be a 'battered wife' hoping it all goes away and gets better."

Mr. Trump reacted to the news of Greene's resignation on Saturday, saying it was because of "PLUMMETING Poll Numbers and not wanting to face a Primary Challenger with a strong Trump Endorsement (where she would have no chance of winning!)"

"For some reason, primarily that I refused to return her never ending barrage of phone calls, Marjorie went BAD," Mr. Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Nevertheless, I will always appreciate Marjorie, and thank her for her service to our Country!

New emails showed that Lawrence H. Summers, a former Harvard president, had stayed in touch with Jeffrey Epstein for years after Mr. Epstein faced s*x trafficking charge. Larry said Monday that he would be taking a step back from public commitments following the release of the emails between him and Jeffery Epstein, who’s a convicted s*x offender.

“I am deeply ashamed of my actions and recognize the pain they have caused,” Mr. Summers said in a statement Monday. “I take full responsibility for my misguided decision to continue communicating with Mr. Epstein.”

Mr. Summers said he will continue to teach as an economics professor but he did not specify which public commitments he would be stepping back from.

Earlier on Monday, Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts had called on Harvard and other institutions to sever their relationship with Mr. Summers.

“For decades, Larry Summers has demonstrated his attraction to serving the wealthy and well connected, but his willingness to cozy up to a convicted s*x offender demonstrates monumentally bad judgment,” Ms. Warren, a former Harvard Law School professor, said in a statement on Monday, which was first reported by CNN.

“If he had so little ability to distance himself from Jeffrey Epstein even after all that was publicly known about Epstein’s s*x offenses involving underage girls, then Summers cannot be trusted to advise our nation’s politicians, policymakers and institutions — or teach a generation of students at Harvard or anywhere else.” Harvard did not respond to make a comment.

A suspected illegal immigrant has been arrested in Texas after allegedly sending n**e photos to 12-year-old boy, Susanna Mendoza, 26, of Jasper, was accused of sending "n**e photos and vulgar text messages" to the boy to "s*xually entice" him, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office said.

The boy’s parents learned about the messages and immediately contacted authorities, according to the sheriff’s office. It’s still not clear how Mendoza and the boy know eachother. Mendoza is facing charges of solicitation of a minor which is a second degree felony. Investigator Calvin Starkie had to work “extremely fast” to apprehend Mendoza because she is believed to be in an illegal immigrant and had threatened to flee the country.

Over the weekend, President Donald Trump suggested subsidies the federal government pays to insurance companies under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) should instead go directly to Americans.

“I am recommending to Senate Republicans that the Hundreds of Billions of Dollars currently being sent to money sucking Insurance Companies in order to save the bad Healthcare provided by ObamaCare, BE SENT DIRECTLY TO THE PEOPLE SO THAT THEY CAN PURCHASE THEIR OWN, MUCH BETTER, HEALTHCARE, and have money left over," Trump wrote in a post on social media.

What are your thoughts? Should we continue with the insurance now or do you agree with Trump? Leave a comment. let’s discuss!

President Donald Trump signed legislation to fund the government again putting an end to the longest government shutdown. This bill keeps funding the government at the same level through the year 2025 to January 30, where they have time to figure out additional measures for the year 2026. This measure also reverses layoffs made in October and will pay employees for there absence.

After the lapse of funding starting October 1st, th Senate passed legislation Monday night that would reopen the government by a 60-40 vote. 8 democrats voted alongside the Republicans for there measure. The House passed its version of the measure on Wednesday.

The deal came as a fallout from the shutdown came to a head, including travel disruptions at U.S. airports where air traffic controllers and Transportation security were required to work while missing a second paycheck. These workers were calling in sick or taking on other jobs creating staff shortages and delays.

The standoff between Republicans and Democrats originated over disagreements about various healthcare provisions to include in a potential funding measure. Trump and Republicans claimed Democrats wanted to provide illegal immigrants healthcare, and pointed to a provision that would repeal part of Trump’s tax and domestic policy bill known as the "big, beautiful bill" that reduced Medicaid eligibility for non-U.S. citizens.

Almost 900 flights were canceled nationwide Wednesday morning, hours ahead of a vote in the House that could end the 43-day government shutdown.

A total of 888 flights within, into or out of the U.S. were canceled Wednesday, according to data from FlightAware’s tracking system. Another 720 trips were delayed, according to the website.

Airline passengers have experienced an uptick in flight interruptions at airports across the country in recent days after the Federal Aviation Administration announced earlier this month that due to staffing shortages amid the shutdown, operations at many airports throughout the U.S. needed to be reduced.

A record number of air traffic controllers have retired or called out during the lapse in funding, as many were required to work without pay for weeks. The controller system was already experiencing technology and staffing issues ahead of the shutdown.

Senators approved a stopgap funding plan on Monday in a 60-40 vote ensuring that military construction, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the legislative branch are funded through the end of next September. The rest of the federal government, if the legislation is passed by the House, will remain afloat until a new deadline: Jan. 30.

Lawmakers in the lower chamber are expected to vote on the funding bill Wednesday evening. The measure is expected to pass, and it will then head to President Trump’s desk for his signature.

“We’re at the cusp of hopefully having the government reopened. I’m concerned that we’re not going to have, on day one, controllers come back into the towers right away,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said during a Tuesday press conference, warning that flight reductions could continue despite movement on the bill.

“I’m asking them to do that. President Trump has asked them to do that. It is their jobs, and they will be paid, but it might not be immediate that they come back in,” he added.

On Tuesday, 40 major airports were ordered to reduce flights by 6 percent for safety reasons amid the shortage in controllers. They are also expected to increase cuts to 8 percent to 10 percent later this week if the shutdown continues.

Commercial airlines have warned travelers about the risk of having their flights either delayed or canceled amid the federal shuttering. Many have encouraged passengers to check their mobile apps to ensure their plane is still scheduled for takeoff before heading to the airport.

Those whose trips are canceled can be rebooked for a later flight at no cost or receive a refund.

“We’re encouraged by the progress being made in Washington, D.C., and we’ve already seen it materialize today with fewer delays and cancellations in our operation,” American Airlines wrote in a Tuesday statement. “There have also been many fewer air traffic control facilities with staffing challenges, which means greater certainty for airlines and the flying public.”

“We’re deeply grateful to federal aviation workers who continue working without pay to keep our skies safe. This is unacceptable,” the airline added later. “We are hopeful that an end to this shutdown is in sight, and we urge leaders in Washington, D.C., to reopen the government as soon as possible.”
