It was an honor to perform this with The Cadets in 2003 whenever we did encore performances over that summer…
In 2008, 5 years after aging out of DCI, I did a cold one-take-wonder recording out my apartment in Smyrna, DE.
(I believe that apartment space was eventually turned into a coffee shop in town on Main St. lol.)
Wait for the solo, eyebrows, shakes, and high notes galore.
I can still play this “to this day” on trumpet or soprano bugle… perhaps stronger, cleaner, and maybe even tagging the BB above the F # at the end…
However, this take is pretty much an exact match to how I played it with The Cadets in 2003.
Sadly, I do not believe there is a recording that exists from 2003…
Between a recording of this from one of our encores that summer and a recording of the finals brass judge tape where the brass judge stood right in front of The Malagueña Trumpet Trio that night in Orlando, FL…
…I’d love to get my hands on either one of those if they exist somewhere in the world. 🤞
