An Open Letter of Gratitude to DARKCon
To the incredible DARKCon team .shontereed .rose.ilift
I am still on a high from the unforgettable experience that was DARKCon. From the moment I arrived, I knew I was a part of something powerful, something that transcended dentistry and spoke to purpose, community, and excellence.
It was an absolute honor to take the mainstage and share my message, “Life Outside the Ops,” with such an inspiring and engaged audience. The opportunity to pour into my peers while also being poured into is a gift I will never take for granted.
This conference was not only educational. It was transformative. The level of intention, ex*****on, and thoughtfulness behind every detail did not go unnoticed. From the dynamic speakers to the beautiful spaces curated for connection and joy, DARKCon was truly a masterclass in what it means to uplift, educate, and empower Black dental professionals.
The volunteer component especially moved me. Watching dentists come together to serve the community during the free day of dental care was a beautiful reminder of the heart behind our profession. This wasn’t just a conference. It was a movement rooted in impact.
To be surrounded by brilliant, passionate Black dentists who are committed to growth, service, and legacy filled my cup in more ways than I can express. I left inspired, affirmed, and excited for what’s to come, not only for myself but for our collective future.
DARKCon, thank you. Thank you for creating a space that celebrates us, educates us, and calls us higher. I have so much love and admiration for everything you’ve built and everything that’s still ahead.
