We have openings for 2-3 more interns to join our group this fall.
This is an *unpaid internship* — but internships come with occasional opportunities for paid gigs, as they become available and have budget.
Internships can also be worth 3 undergraduate college credits, with several members of our earlier intern groups have had our executives sign them and gotten credit. Which is awesome!
But: the *knowledge and experience* you will acquire here are the main things of value, mostly stuff you cant or don’t get to learn in school!
Our program consists of a commitment of one night a week, currently every Monday night; Meetings are 6-11pm, and these are focused, nights of learning (3x a month) and studio betterment (1x a month - loosely). Lots of shop talk and experimenting with different microphones, video and other gear.
And if the paid position for a project goes to another, all of our “active” and “veteran / inactive” interns have access to our calendar, and have open invitations to observe (unpaid) all of our sessions. These are all optional.
Session days where we have clients that need large crew, we offer $15-25/hr for general studio help. And $25-50/hr for more directly involved gigs as assistant engineers (like attended and unattended editing sessions, vocal tuning, file prep, etc.) - Ask any of our interns, they will tell you we try hard for professional and financial inclusion, and tailor our program to everyone’s needs as best we are able.
We are a new, but growing recording studio in Snellville, about 30 minutes east of Atlanta. Owned by Chris Alpiar, producer and recordist for the last decade at 800 East Studios in O4W, and co-founder of Behip Records®️, as well as a Jazz and Improv artist (Berklee scholarship ‘90-‘94). He was trained in the analog era by Armando Terron (Miami Sound Machine) and Harold Harms in Miami, and while his training was analog tape, his studio has stayed up to date with all the latest tech.
We like to consider ourselves the perfect hybrid of classic techniques and modern technology. The “right” microphones, great cables/routing, great preamp & da converters and the music stays “in the box”, unless, if and until summing mixer desired (SSL SiX 12 channel summing).
Mr. Alpiar has since had over 30 years experience with Live one room, live-isolated multi room, and overdubbed band recordings in every genre, including rock, pop, musical theater, funk, electronic, hiphop, Jazz, classical and a sweet tooth for avant-garde and experimental music. He works with vocalists, rappers, singer songwriters and ensembles of all genres to produce & record, as well as compose & arrange (full orchestra to beats).
We are specialists in both acoustically accurate and “studio magic” types of productions, based on client needs. Though owner/producer Chris Alpiar especially loves the unique challenges of acoustics and bouncing molecules, with live ensembles in one room - performing live, and recording “live to multitrack”. “Get it right going in”, has been the motto, with the best high end microphones, cables, industry top preamps and digital conversions; then the best use of dynamics, condensors (large & small diaphragm and tubes), and passive & active ribbons. Brands of professional standards likr Neumann , AKG, Neve, Universal Audio, Solid State Logic, and more.
From minimalist solo recordings to full band madness. We are also developing foley and sound design.
We also cover music business, studio psychology, self-employed entrepreneurship, and building your brand.
If this sounds awesome to you, ideal candidates are post high school, college bound or post college age (exceptional high school considered), with a focus and passion for music sound design, or audio production.
Transportation to Snellville at least once a week is required. Neat, friendly, organized self-starters, who are excited about learning and exploring recording, please apply!
Our active team of interns and studio Asst. Engineers are mostly audio engineering graduates from Geogia State, SAE, and AIM. So, applicants with education or experience in audio/music engineering is a huge plus. But anyone who is *interested in learning*, meets the criteria, and can be comfortable being in catch up mode to more advanced folk will be considered. Apply and lets meet up!
