SIDS Awareness Month is almost here!
With October fast approaching, there’s still time to boost awareness about ways to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related infant deaths. The SIDS Awareness Month Digital Toolkit has valuable free resources to help you start conversations with parents and early educators about safe sleep for babies.

The Challenge empowers parents and caregivers to put their skills into action by creating a safe sleep environment. The Toolkit provides everything you need—detailed instructions, completion certificates, even a printable “prescription” slip—to take the Challenge at a community baby shower or parenting class, or by sharing a video online.

Are you ready for the Challenge? These community member videos show how people and organizations have made the Challenge their ow...

By the time Helene reaches us, it will be a tropical storm, but it will still pack a punch with heavy rain – from 8-12 inches – and high winds – up to 60-miles-per-hour, which the National Weather Service tells us will peak between Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon.

With the rain we’re slated to get this afternoon and this evening from another weather system, local flooding could be a factor from Helene because the ground will already be saturated.

The one-two punch of rain combined with heavy winds could also lead to downed trees and power lines. So, here are some resources to consider when preparing for the coming storm.

Please stay away from downed power lines and report them to Georgia Power immediately. Do not drive into flooded streets without knowing the depth of the water. Stay tuned to local news reports and heed all emergency warnings and recommendations.
