The 2023 Ship Creek Anchorage, Slam’n Salm’n Derby men's class winner Chris Depoe, caught the winning king salmon on a locally made Kodiak Custom green skirt spinner.🥇
Fast forward to now in 2025 and the current derby leader William Gochanour, caught a potential winner king salmon in the men's class on yet again, a Kodiak Custom lure! However he used a blue skirt spinner to catch his contending fish.🎣🕺🦈
Should William go on to win the derby, a Kodiak Custom lure will have caught 2 out of the last 3 men's class winning kings in the Slam'n Salm'n Derby. But wait, there's more!🤓
Last year in 2024, a green Kodiak Custom trolling spoon caught the winning Seward Silver Salmon Derby fish and a Kodiak Custom orange/chartreuse skirt spinner caught the winning silver salmon in the Valdez Fish Derbies contest!🥇🥇

‼️Mid-Week Alaska Fish Report‼️
➡️Seward Sockeye: Snagging remains very spotty with more slower periods than productive
➡️Ship Creek Kings: continues to produce some nice daily catches
➡️Eklutna Tailrace Kings: Slow but fish have been caught!
➡️Lower Kenai Sockeye headed to the Russian a few are being picked off
➡️Kasilof River Kings/Sockeye: Things picked up a bit last few days with more Kings being caught by guide fleet, sockeye catch incidentals increasing
➡️Homer Lagoon Kings: Had a few productive tides this week, overall slow but kings present
➡️Cook Inlet/Homer Halibut/Kings: Trolling for Kings in K-Bay is Good, Halibut from boat and shore continues by consistent Good tides this week but bad weather/windy predictions continue thru weekend

Congratulations William Gochanour for catching this 23 lbs. Ship Creek king salmon on a KODIAK CUSTOM FISHING TACKLE size #6 blue skirt spinner! William is now the men’s leader in Anchorage’s largest king salmon derby, the Slam’n Salm’n Derby!
Side note: A Kodiak Custom green bean trolling spoon and orange/chartreuse skirt spinner caught the 2024 winning Seward and Valdez Silver Salmon derby fish last year. Let’s hope William hangs on for the win in Anchorage to secure a grand slam for Kodiak Custom caught winning fish in the last 3 of Alaska’s biggest salmon fishing derbies…back to back, to back!

Fish continue to surge and doesn’t appear to be slowing down at all.
