Day 89 🚴‍♂️ Friday, May 15th

Good morning ☀️ slept in a little 💤 late breakfast 😋 unloaded the bikes and met up with the peeps, (Onward and Life Aquatic) 1st a little provisioning - West Marine, ABC store, Grocery and Fish Market (Scored great looking Cod fish) Brought supplies ( Greg had an anchor and we had fish) back to the boats … Life Aquatic is next to us on E dock and Onward is across the way at the Yacht Club

We all biked around Solomons stopping for Tacos and, of course, ice cream… Brrr is a close 2nd to Hellas 🏅 and has a since if humor- peep the sign

Back to the boats for a dingy ride…. Lyn and Terry piled in with us 🐾😎 the live-a-board sailboat with 2 geese was quite the sight 👀 Rafted up with Life Aquatic and cruised the harbor

Island Hideaway for Dinner 😋 Excellent lasagna, great friends, nice view and a moonlight dingy ride back to the boat 🌅

Life is so good 💖

Day 88 🌊 Thursday, May 14th

We pushed the “go/no-go” envelope today❗️ picked a window and departed Crisfield traveling 5 hours to Solomons Island

Drizzling rain and calm in Somers Cove 🌧️ ROUGH in the Bay 🌊 blowing NE 20kts and we are running 10 mph into it 😬 getting spray on the flybridge‼️ thankful for the curtains☂️ 4 foot seas makes it REALLY hard to spot the crab pots 👀 🦀 Captain had to make several evasive maneuvers

Safely docked and washed down at Solomons Yachting center 😎

Enjoyed a well deserved beverage and shared Nachos in the Bluefish Pub - neat, little restaurant/bar in the marina 🍻 super friendly people💞

Dingy ride to meet Terry and Lyn (Onward and Life Aquaticcrossed today, too😬) walked to the Tiki Bar - great friends, live music and apps🎶 🍻 😋

Day 87 ☀️ Wednesday, May 13th

Did a walkabout town🐾 scored a Smith Island Cake-official dessert of Maryland 😋 it originated on Smith Island which is only accessible by boat … This time of year only the mail ferry is running 💌⛴️ Warning - before you depart, confirm the mail ferry is returning today‼️Windy and rough 🌊 no go call on the Smith Island trip 😞

Nothing in town open (still off season)

Gathered the peeps together at the closed Marina Bar for Docktails BYOB with venison sausage and tamales 😋 “Sometimes you just gotta make it happen, Captain”

Enjoyed our friends on Onward and Life Aquatic and getting to know new friends on Cinnamon Girl and Huckleberry Rose💖 A Good time was had by All

Day 86 😎 Tuesday, May 12th

Departed Deltaville, VA at 0910 traveling North and jumped across to the East side of the Chesapeake traveling 5 1/4 hours to Crisfield, MD Somers Cove Marina 😎 A little bumpy in the middle, but slicked out for the rest of the ride

Stopped at the Fuel dock 149.5 gallons at $5.45/gal

Welcome to Maryland 🦀 the crab capital of the world

Did a walkabout to with Terry and Lyn (Onward) Greg and Kelly (Life Aquatic) and new friends , Mary and Andy (Cinnamon Girl) to Waters Edge Cafe… recommended by the marina staff but gets a C- 😞

Day 85 💧Monday, May 11th

The Admiral took advantage of a rainy day to get some chores done and de-clutter …. Soaked red beans for dinner only to discover the sausage is jalapeño/cheese ❗️Cleve grabbed the courtesy car and went on a grocery run for Andouille sausage… Assisted Living and Tortue De Mer rode along for a drop off at West Marine…. Spotted 4 large deer grazing along the way 👀 🦌

It has rained ALL day ⛈️ and it’s cold , about 52° 🥶 Sun peeped out about 5:30 ☀️

Day 84 💐 Mother’s Day - May 10th

Beautiful ride from Yorktown to Deltaville, VA 😎 tucked in at Regatta Point Yachting Center for the weather coming in ⛈️ Nice Marina, small town- 1200 people/over 3,000 boats not including transients

Nearest church over 1 1/2 hour bike ride - NO Ubers, taxis or rental cars 🤦🏻‍♀️ Streamed Sacred Heart Goula ⛪️ 💞

Bike ride to West Marine ⚓️ word is we will need to use our splitter for Power in the near future and will need a 30 amp 25-50 Ft extension for one of the ears

Stopped at Deltaville Tap & Raw Bar 🍻🦪 Nice view of the Bay
Note: Raw oysters are NOT served with Saltines here

We have traveled 2,003 miles 😎

Day 83 ☀️Saturday, May 9th

Farmers Market on the Waterfront and Car Show in the Historic District this morning.

We did a walk about taking in a few sites including the Yorktown Victory monument, Cornwallis’ cave and the waterfront

Cleve biked to the Battlefield for a tour… was advised “it is illegal to ride w/o a helmet in VA - you WILL get a ticket‼️” … helmets added to the shopping list

Docktails with 8 couples - mostly loopers - and their fur babies 🐾😎🍻

Crashed a Wedding at the Marina gate 💒 then on to dinner at local pub with Lyn and Terry (Onward) and Kelly and Greg (Life Aquatic)

Day 82 😎Friday, May 8th

5 hr/40 mi Travel Day from Portsmouth to Yorktown

Gorgeous day with some of the most interesting sights we’ve seen on the water 👀

We were up close and personal with a submarine leaving Portsmouth ‼️ Navy Rib with machine gun mounted on the bow turned on his lights and Hailed us to move away 🚨 Apparently, we did NOT maintain the 500 yd safety zone - YES we immediately complied with Cleve yelling “don’t get SHOT trying to take a pic “ 😂 📸 IMPRESSIVE- YKnotNow pulled over and watched them pass

Several destroyers in the DDG fleet are in Norfolk since returning from deployment last year 🇺🇸 we spotted DDG 55, 78 and 95 among others 👀

Lots of barge traffic and pleasure craft on the water following yesterday’s stormy weather…. Kept us on our toes

Yorktown Riverwalk Landing Piers is beautifully located in the heart of town…. Carla and Summer were excited to put their toes in the sand 🐾

Did a walkabout through the historic district and Mainstreet 🚶 🐾 Summer scored fancy treats in Gangsta Dog 🧁

Yorktown is the place Washington whipped Cornwallis 🇺🇸 Cleve is excited to tour all the stuff tomorrow

Day 81💧Thursday, May 7th

Taking advantage of the nasty, rainy cold day☔️🥶 laundry ✅ Walmart ✅ engine room✅

Ran to catch the 6:00 pm Ferry to Norfolk🤦🏻‍♀️just missed it ☹️

Met Lyn and Terry (Onward) at Varia for ladies night and to spend our “Gift” card 💖 so much fun 🤩 cocktails 🍹 pizza 🍕 and piano music 🎶 tonight … shout out to our bartender, Ben❣️ also saw our new friend , Tim again

Back at the boat, watched a little MSU/Auburn ⚾️ Dawgs win 10-3 🐮🔔🐾

Day 80 🤩 Wednesday, May 6th

Slept in a little this morning 💤

Took a walkabout thru the Portsmouth historic district and downtown … stopped in ELG (Envision/Lead/Grow)Sweet Boutique for an ice cream and discovered a delightful shop founded by young entrepreneurs🍦

We found the Lightship in lieu of a lighthouse 🤷🏻‍♀️

Took the Ferry across to Norfolk ⛴️ visited with Looper friends staying at Waterside (rendezvous host Marina)😎

Following a recommendation from Liz, we met Lyn and Terry and headed toward the Hilton and Varia Italian restaurant We dropped in the Grain Rooftop Beer Garden on a whim 💖🍻 Carla had to try the GrainMosa - quite tasty 😋 Shout out to our fabulous bartender, Chris⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

At Varia, We enjoyed Live music 🎷 a complementary wine tasting 🍷 and a delicious dinner 😋 after purchasing a few bottles, we scored a card to return tomorrow 🤗

Day 79 😎Tuesday, May 5

LOTS of planning for today’s journey from Coinjock to Portsmouth/Norfork

We will travel thru 7 Bridges with under 12’ clearance ; the 1st several of which only open on the hour or 1/2 hour ⏰and the Great Bridge Draw and Lock only on the hour 😳 Timing is critical… we burned some fuel ⛽️

Departed Coinjock at 0715 and hit the 1st swing bridge, for the 10:30 opening and ran hard for the 2nd to make the 11:00 opening 🐇 then slowed down considerably and waited for the Great Bridge and Lock 🐢 all went perfectly until we caught a train at the last RR bridge which stacked boats up pulling into Tidewater Marina🤷🏻‍♀️

We are at ICW Mile 0 🏆

Dinner with a fabulous view at the Marina restaurant, Fish and Slips 😋
