In 1914, construction began on a mountain pass to link Central California with the Los Angeles Basin. A move that would ultimately save California from splitting into two states.
Sadly, the historic Ridge Route has fallen into disrepair with rocks, gravel, and broken up asphalt littering the road as no state agency wants to deal with the upkeep.
