Attention all disabled self advocates and community members in Pulaski County who identify as part of the Disabled and/or Deaf community!
Lake Cumberland Diversity Collective is sponsoring and hosting alongside Hope of KY, Somerset Junior Woman's Club, and Goodwill Opportunity Center - Somerset a panel discussion on Disaster Preparedness for Persons with Disabilities.
Thursday, August 7th
1 pm EST
Goodwill Opportunity Center - Somerset
2305 South Highway 27 Suite B
Somerset, Kentucky 42503
While there will be guest speakers from the Lake Cumberland District Health Department, Pulaski County Emergency Management, and University of Kentucky, Lake Cumberland Diversity Collective also knows that for our Disabled community there is nothing about you without you!
Therefore, we need your perspectives and innovations around disaster preparedness. And as you share your accommodations and needs, please know that Lake Cumberland Diversity Collective wants to collaborate and work with you, not "fix," present at, and/or speak over you.
A table will be set up for collecting information for follow-up and to aid in signing up for the "Moore Safe Nights" A Virginia Moore Legacy Project: A Weather Radio Distribution Program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Kentuckians made possible by a partnership between the Kentucky Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Kentucky Emergency Management.
American Sign Language(ASL) interpreting will be provided in partnership with Interpreting Service of The Commonwealth, LLC.
