S**TV Ch.3 is the community cable TV channel managed by Somerville Media Center.
Somerville Community Access Television (S**TV) is a multiple-award winning community access television station operated by Somerville Media Center. S**TV has the distinction of being the oldest community access channel in Massachusetts. Besides the livestream, S**TV can be found on Cable Channel 3 in Somerville (RCN and Comcast) as well certain times on Ville TV, the HD channel (RCN 613) shared wi
th the Somerville Government and Education channels. The mission of S**TV is to showcase community-made media including media made by SMC member-producers, Somerville-made media, and other import media considered to be of interest to the Somerville community at large. As a community media center, we provide training in TV studio production, Field production, Final Cut Pro X editing, Animation, and more! As a member you can use SMC equipment and facilities to make your own program about whatever you want to distribute however you want and for cablecast on S**TV Channel 3. Over the past few weeks, The Somerville Museum and Somerville Media Center - SMC have been collecting video recordings of members of the community reading sections of Frederick Douglass' famous speech "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?"
The video program that we put together of these readings will debut tonight on Facebook Live at 6:30 PM to be followed by a discussion with the project scholar, Keidrick Roy and will also cablecast throughout the month on Somerville Community Access Television.
This program is funded in part by Mass Humanities, which receives support from the Mass Cultural Council and is an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Remote youth media classes, coming to a computer near you!
Stuck at home? Get creative with Somerville Media Center’s new Online Media Adventures. Each 4 week session teaches youth hands-on media productions skills in a collaborative, engaging curriculum. Using remote production tools like WeVideo, Animaker, Soundtrap and more, youth will learn how to create original media projects that will amaze! Youth who are between the ages of 10-14 may sign up for one or more sessions. They will need access to the internet, the application Zoom, a browser, and a laptop, tablet or other device to produce media on. To find out more and sign up, follow this link!

Somerville Neighborhood News was at the Somerville Democratic Caucus last week and we spoke with Senator Edward J. Markey, Representative Ayanna Pressley , State Representative Mike Connolly, Mayor Joe Curtatone and local politicians and other figures about the importance of caucuses in community politics.
June is coming soon and SOM ARTS has picked some noteworthy Somerville events for you. Included in this episode are a historical walk through East Somerville, two book related events, a night market in Ball Square, a Father's Day comedy festival built around dad jokes and Dave's Roger Rabbit impression.
In this Somerville Neighborhood News segment, learn about last weekend's Citywide Cleanup. Residents were invited to join Ward Captains and City officials in each ward to prepare for the spring and summer by planting flowers, weeding open spaces, and otherwise cleaning the community following the long winter months.
