I love planning and exploring all that America has to offer and creating unforgettable memories. Each winding road reveals breathtaking views of the ocean, picturesque towns, and vibrant landscapes. My journe

ys take me through stunning state and national parks, past charming roadside diners, and to the heart of local culture, allowing for discovery at every turn. From the rugged cliffs of the Pacific Coast Highway to the serene shores of the Atlantic, each trip is an invitation to embrace the spirit of adventure, reconnect with nature, and savor the rich diversity of experiences that only a road trip can provide. Whether it's the thrill of uncovering a little-known waterfall or stopping for a scenic view at a national landmark, these explorations promise excitement and wonder, making them a cherished aspect of American travel. My friends encouraged me to start a blog to share my trips, photography and details to inspire others to join in the adventure! 📍 Fort Point – San Francisco
Tucked right beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, Fort Point is a hidden gem that blends history, architecture, and jaw-dropping views.

Originally built in the mid-1800s to guard San Francisco Bay, this brick fortress never saw battle—but it has stood the test of time. Today, visitors can explore its arched corridors, spiral staircases, and cannons while feeling the salty breeze of the Pacific.

The real showstopper? Looking straight up at the massive steel structure of the Golden Gate Bridge towering above you. It’s one of the best photography spots in the city—especially at sunrise or when the fog rolls in. 🌉✨

🐾 Teddy gave it a paws-up for the walk around the outside (though pups aren’t allowed inside).

If you’re in San Francisco, don’t miss this mix of history and iconic views!

🌊🌉 Exploring the Marin Headlands & Historic Fort Baker 🌉🌊

Just across the Golden Gate Bridge lies one of the Bay Area’s most stunning escapes – the Marin Headlands. Teddy and I set out for a day of coastal views, history, and hidden gems, and this adventure did not disappoint! 🐾✨

🏞️ Marin Headlands
Winding roads lead to sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, rugged cliffs, and that picture-perfect angle of the Golden Gate Bridge with San Francisco shimmering in the distance. The Headlands are part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and every turn reveals something new – from wildflowers and wildlife to secret beaches and historic bunkers.

📸 Best stops:
• Hawk Hill – Panoramic views (and in fall, an amazing place to watch migrating raptors).
• Point Bonita Lighthouse – Perched dramatically on the cliffs, accessible by a suspension bridge.
• Battery Spencer – The ultimate postcard shot of the Golden Gate.

🏰 Fort Baker
Tucked at the foot of the bridge, this former military post blends history and nature. Once home to U.S. Army coastal defenses, its charming white cottages and red-roofed barracks now house museums, cultural centers, and the eco-friendly Cavallo Point Lodge. Walking along the old parade grounds, you can almost imagine the life of soldiers stationed here a century ago.

🌲 Why visit?
• Learn local history at the Bay Area Discovery Museum (great for families).
• Stroll the waterfront and watch sailboats drift across the bay.
• Capture incredible shots of the bridge from below – a rare perspective!

🐶 Pet note: Teddy loved walking the open areas around Fort Baker, but some trails in the Headlands have restrictions, so check before bringing your pup along.

🌟 The Marin Headlands & Fort Baker are a perfect day trip from San Francisco – offering a mix of natural beauty, Golden Gate views, and stories of California’s past. A place where the wild coast meets rich history.

🚗🌄 Eastern Sierra Adventure Awaits! 🌄🐾

Teddy and I packed up the car for one epic road trip through some of California’s most jaw-dropping landscapes – and wow, did this route deliver! ✨

📍 Bridgeport, CA – A charming mountain town and the perfect basecamp. Rustic, laid-back, and surrounded by incredible scenery.
💦 Travertine Hot Springs – Natural mineral pools with 360° mountain views. Nothing beats soaking here while watching the sun dip behind the peaks.
👻 Bodie State Historic Park – A real-life ghost town frozen in time. Wooden storefronts and mining relics whisper stories of the Gold Rush era.
🌊 Mono Lake & the Tufas – Otherworldly limestone towers rising from the lake – especially magical at sunrise or sunset.
🏞️ June Lake Loop – A drive of pure alpine beauty: shimmering lakes, aspen groves, and snow-dusted peaks.
🪨 Devils Postpile – Nature’s architecture at its finest, with towering basalt columns that look like a giant’s organ pipes.
🌲 Yosemite National Park – Waterfalls, granite cliffs, and trails that remind you why it’s one of the crown jewels of the Sierra.

🐶 Pro tip: Not every spot is dog-friendly, so Teddy and I split time between scenic drives, photo stops, and pet-friendly pullouts to soak it all in.

This loop was a mix of history, hot springs, wild geology, and world-class national parks – a photographer’s dream and a traveler’s delight. 🗺️✨

🚗🦩 Road trip stop: Ostrichland USA in Solvang!

If you’ve ever wanted to meet ostriches and emus up close, this quirky roadside attraction is a must. 🐦✨ Known as the “ostrich capital of America”, it’s home to dozens of curious, giant birds that you can safely feed with special bowls (pro tip: hold on tight, these guys are enthusiastic eaters!).

🌟 What makes it fun:
• Watch these towering birds stretch their necks right up to you.
• Feed them and snap hilarious photos (they’ve got personalities as big as their size!).
• Learn quirky facts, did you know ostriches are the largest birds in the world, but they can’t fly?
• Great stop between wine tasting in Solvang and Santa Ynez! 🍷

📍 Located just off Highway 246, Ostrichland is easy to find and unforgettable once you visit.

Would you dare to hand-feed an ostrich? 🦢👇
