One of our final stops before making it back to Utah was Flagstaff, Arizona — and it turned out to be one of our favorite parts of the trip. We stayed at Pine Valley RV Park on Camp Navajo National Guard Base, which made the perfect home base for sightseeing. Surrounded by towering pine trees and spacious campsites, it was peaceful, relaxing, and beautifully scenic.
Most of our adventures took place on the RZR exploring the trails of Coconino National Forest, known as the world’s largest contiguous Ponderosa Pine forest. The scenery was absolutely incredible, and our puppy Beau was especially excited to be back out riding again after quite a long break.
One of the more unique experiences was visiting the Lava River Cave — a mile-long lava tube in the middle of the forest. After a bit of a climb down, we were able to walk almost the entire length of the cave from entrance to end. It was amazing to see such a massive underground cave tucked away among the pines… and even more surprising was how many people were exploring it too. We probably passed at least 50 people while making our way through!
We also spent some time exploring historic downtown Flagstaff and doing a little shopping along the way. We really enjoyed the charm of the old town atmosphere, with its unique local shops, historic buildings, and rich history that gave the area so much character.
Flagstaff was the perfect mix of cool mountain air, outdoor adventure, and unforgettable scenery — a fantastic way to wrap up our time in Arizona.
