𝗛𝗢𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧 𝗦𝗨𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗧 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗗 | A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with an armed threat at Howard Park.

On Tuesday, August 26, around 8:15 p.m., South Bend Police were called to Howard Park on the report of a male running around the park, threatening to stab people with a knife.

Upon arrival, officers located, disarmed and detained 43-year-old Derrick V. Myers, who was in possession of a steak knife.

Officers spoke to witnesses, who stated Myers followed some parkgoers saying, “I’m gonna stab you, I’m gonna kill you.”

Witnesses also said they shouted at other parkgoers, telling them to run away.

Myers was arrested and transported to the St. Joseph County Jail.

On Wednesday, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office charged Myers with Intimidation.

Please remember, all persons are presumed innocent until/unless convicted in a court of law.
