Harvard University has appointed Kareem Khubchandani, a drag performer known by the stage name “LaWhore Vagistan,” as a visiting professor in its Studies of Gender.

Khubchandani, currently an associate professor of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies at Tufts University, will join Harvard for two semesters. In the fall, he will teach “Queer Ethnography,” a course exploring research methods in q***r studies. For the spring semester, he is slated to lead “RuPaulitics: Drag, Race, and Desire,” which will examine the cultural impact of the television show “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”

Khubchandani has built a career blending academia with performance art, often lecturing in his drag persona. His stage name, “LaWhore Vagistan,” draws from South Asian cultural references: “LaWhore” plays on Lahore, a city in Pakistan linked to his family’s origins, while “Vagistan” reimagines the Indian subcontinent.

The average cost to attend the Ivy League school… $86,000 per year.

Many of you know I'm a parent. Most of you don't know that I have survived years of child abuse. I started speaking publicly about things in 2017 with This Is My Brave, Inc. and now in 2025, over a video call tonight, I've connected with Parent Coalition for Child Safety & Wellness Rio's Rainbow the Speak Our Truth Project as well as Conscious Michiana, Inc. the Elkhart Diversity Committee, Connect 2 Be The Change LLC and Indiana Life over Bullets in addition to a few others. Storytelling is the primary goal of LIT Comms and I will fight tooth and nail for causes and missions I believe in.
