We’re proud to share our latest custom build—a guitar that’s as much a tribute to artistry as it is to luthiery.

Crafted with Koa back and sides and a German Spruce top, this instrument is trimmed with holly bindings and classic herringbone purfling, giving it a timeless elegance.

But what truly makes this guitar special is the headstock inlay—a miniature reproduction of Theseus & The Minotaur, a copper etching created by the clients grandfather, Roderick Mead.

Roderick was an artist who spent much of his career in Paris, working among the likes of Joan Miró, Vasily Kandinsky, and Pablo Picasso. His etching, which now resides in the Louvre, depicts the mythic confrontation between Theseus and the Minotaur—one of the great narratives of Greek mythology, full of courage, cunning, and transformation.

We suspect he created the piece around 1950. Now, over 70 years later, it’s found new life as part of this instrument—a symbol of the family’s deep roots in both art and craftsmanship.

had a brilliant idea of using Holly to match the trim and grain of the wood. He was able to use our laser cutter to give us a near perfect reconstruction of the original image, which is the last slide.

This guitar is more than wood and wire. It’s music, myth, and memory—woven into every detail.
