📘 Druk the Kindly Dragon: In the Curious Case of Rainbow Slushies
Published by SeeRenDip Publishing
Meet G.A. Milne — a creator at heart, a visual storyteller by nature, and the author behind Druk the Kindly Dragon. His love of building, imagining, and storytelling goes all the way back to his childhood.
“All my life, I’ve always loved to make things. Anything from anything, really.”
🧱 From LEGOs and Minecraft to pottery and 3D printing, G.A.’s imagination has always found a way to take shape.
His earliest stories were created to entertain his five younger siblings — and those stories still live on today.
“Naturally, I wrote all of them down so I wouldn’t forget any details… Some of those characters and stories I would later use as inspiration for my books.”
🌄 Rooted in Utah
“Utah… helped shape me into the person I am today.”
“Much like Bluey did for Brisbane, Australia… I wanted [my book series] to portray Utah in a way that made readers interested in the state’s history and what it’s like to be there.”
📖 About the Book
“Druk is what they call a ‘kindly dragon’ meaning he’s friendly to everyone he meets.”
“In this book we see Druk helping each family member out with different things. Along the way, he learns how to make rainbow slushies with the help of his friend.”
🎨 Favorite Moment
“The page with Hanna and Druk walking down a green bricked path… that was the first illustration made for the whole book. Before then, these characters were only ideas… Now they’re on real ink and paper.”
🎶 If His Book Had a Theme Song?
“I’d rather much prefer just a musical theme. A beat that tells you Druk is here. Music that doesn’t have words… never needs to be translated to be understood by anyone.”
📝 On His Writing Process
“Is this a story you would like?”
“I consider myself more of a visual storyteller… I love to travel… I always buy a window seat just so I can take pictures of the clouds.”
💬 On the Hardest Part of Writing
“Sometimes what I type doesn’t roll off the tongue as well as I would like.”
“When my first book got published… someone left a very mean, rude, and hurtful review.”
“But… people bought and read my book. They read it to their kids, and they love it. That motivates me to keep writing more stories.”
✏️ Advice to Aspiring Writers
“Don’t let modern trends or influencers determine what you write.”
“Often those who despise your work are people who never got up and did what you did.”
“As long as there are people out there who enjoy what you write, no naysayer can ever stop you.”
🌱 Final Words
“Writing a book is like growing a plant… if you continually put in the effort and give it what it needs, sooner or later you will have something to be proud of.”
