To My Doors in Time Family:
I am sorry for my absence. I have been on social media off and on to entertain myself so that I do not feel so much pain. (I have passed over a dozen kidney stones in the past few months - and still have 1 more to go.) Besides all of that, I have been very ill and unable to film & edit ā and I still donāt know how to handle the YouTube situation! At another time, I will explain everything that I can. (Maybe we can live-stream a family meeting soon???) But for now, I am very concerned about all of you! For the most part, you are all much more prone to a serious case of Covid-19 ā and I feel that information that you need is being withheld from you.
I havenāt dealt with Covid-19, but I do know what happens when a patient presents with symptoms that baffle physicians. Everything is a guessing game. As many of you already know, my experience was that the doctors guessed incorrectly for over two years. Yet, once they came to some sort of conclusion, all were certain that they were right. The specialists argued with me that science was on their side. Because I never went back and told them that they couldnāt have been more wrong if they tried, they probably still swear by their (incorrect) science.
After tears, frustration, mental exhaustion, I received a text from my daughterās medical advocate. She wanted to know if I had ever heard of a particular neurological syndrome. It happened to have a bizarre name that I wouldnāt have forgotten if someone had mentioned it to me before. I wasnāt familiar with it.
A few hours of research later, I realized that this syndrome is not accepted as āreal scienceā in mainstream medical circlesā and worse, it was going to be difficult to find a doctor to rule out or diagnose it. I contacted one of the two doctors in the entire state of Utah who treat this illness. My daughter was given a cutting-edge test, which made it possible to understand what was happening to her.
The science of the most renowned team of specialists can mean absolutely nothing. In medicine, āscienceā is not absolute. At best, medical science is an opinion based upon observations, which will ultimately always be clouded by personal prejudices. At worst, it is an opinion easily swayed by monetary rewards or peer pressure. Sometimes, āscienceā is a stance a physician is forced to accept because of hospital guidelines or fear of reprimands from superiors.
For a good doctor, medical āscienceā isnāt an absolute, it is fluid. It changes as better information or technology becomes available. Behind closed doors, medical science can be hotly debated and still not be conclusive at the end of the arguments and presentations of studies and evidence. The experts do not agree when science is science, which hopefully helps you to realize that when a TV Personality or a Billionaire Computer Nerd tells you that they are basing something critical on āscienceā from leading medical experts, somewhere there is a group of justāas-qualified-doctors who would see that science as dangerous bunk.
As a mother, weeding through the different schools of thought ā the different opinions labeled āscienceā was gut-wrenching. I can only imagine what it would be like to have a family member with Covid-19. With this pandemic, the situation is more colluded by āmedical scienceā being hijacked and weaponized for political purposes and monetary gain.
For my family, the suppressed, less-accepted science, was more often than not, the science we needed to heal. I say this not because I am advocating the science of the Right over the science of the Left, but because I want to emphasize that when Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube suppresses information because it has been āfact-checkedā and shown to be erroneous, somewhere there is a group of highly-trained, highly qualified medical experts who would label social media āproven-factsā as medical science-fiction.
I donāt want any of you to have your health destroyed because it was the target of a political weapon ā Right, Left, or otherwise. Donāt research in an echo chamber. Lastly, pray for inspiration to know which āscience,ā if any, you should trust.
Much Love, Heidi
