After years of customers asking – and some even swiping bottles from restaurant tables – the Fox and Hound Tahoe has officially launched retail versions of its three house-made barbecue sauces.

The sauces (mild, hot and vinegar-based) have long been staples at the restaurant. But turning them into products for retail sale has been a long process, owner Matt Grime said.

As a tiny seedling began sprouting in the forest along Mount Rose Highway west of Reno, the Vietnam War was ending under President Gerald Ford, the price of gas was 53 cents per gallon and the Kool-Aid man made his first television commercial appearance.

Today, 50 years later, that seedling has grown into Silver Belle, a 53-foot-tall red fir from the Carson Ranger District and the first Capitol Christmas tree to be harvested from Nevada.

The Tahoe Knight Monsters earned themselves a three-game sweep over the Tulsa Oilers with a 5-2 win on Sunday afternoon.

In the first period, it was Tulsa who jumped out early thanks to a pair of power-play goals from Drew Elliott and Easton Armstrong after Knight Monsters forward Mike O’Leary was given a game misconduct for cross-checking to give the Oilers a 2-0 lead headed into the locker room.
