From Tamale to Thessaloniki — The Remarkable Journey of Baba Abdul-Rahman 🇬🇭✊🏾
He was just a young boy from Tamale with a dream. Today, Baba Rahman stands tall as one of Ghana’s most resilient and inspiring football stories.
He started with Dreams FC and Kotoko, where he lifted the Ghana Premier League title. Then came the European chapter — from Germany’s Bundesliga with Greuther Fürth and Augsburg, to the bright lights of Stamford Bridge with Chelsea.
But Baba’s journey was never smooth. A cruel injury at AFCON 2017 nearly ended it all. Many would have given up. But not Baba. He fought. He healed. And he returned — not once, but again and again.
From Schalke to Reims, Mallorca to Reading, and now to PAOK in Greece — Baba Rahman has found his rhythm again. In the just-ended 2024/25 season, he made over 46 appearances, scored 8 goals, and helped PAOK to win the Greek Super League and Cup double. A true comeback king 👑
On the international stage, Baba gave us his all. Over 50 appearances for the Black Stars. AFCON finals. World Cup moments. An assist against Portugal. Pure class.
Off the pitch, he continues to give back — supporting youth teams, donating to schools, and inspiring the next generation in northern Ghana.
Baba Rahman is more than a footballer. He’s a symbol of resilience, humility, and unshakable belief. His story teaches us: no matter how hard life hits you, you can rise again — stronger, wiser, and better.
Take a bow, Abdul Baba Rahman. Ghana is proud of you. 🙌🏾🇬🇭⚽
