Hi, my name is Jay Rao and welcome to the Ghosts of the Orange Bowl. As a South Florida sports fanatic and local history nerd, I’ve looked long and hard for comprehensive information about the Orange Bowl on the Internet. But I never found anything that satisfied my curiosity. So in 2012, I decided to start my own page on Facebook. The Ghosts of the Orange Bowl is dedicated to chronicling the complete history of the Orange Bowl stadium. From 1937 to 2008, no other facility has hosted more big football games—college or professional. But the Orange Bowl was much more than just a football stadium. It was Miami’s cultural mecca, hosting a variety of events. Each day, I post articles and photos that try to capture the OB’s unique history. From the hall of famers to the hot dog vendors, this page covers it all. All articles are written by myself. So if you find any grammar or spelling mistakes, blame my cat Hollywood who’s my editor. LOL
This page is for fans of all ages and backgrounds. You don’t have to be a Miami fan. However, I have a few simple ground rules. Please refrain from using profanity, racist, sexist, homophobic or any hateful remarks. Also, please be respectful to other posters who may not have the same opinion as yours. Finally, I want to thank each and every person who has liked, followed or posted on this page. Many of the photos here have been sent by readers and followers. Thursday Brittany was supposed to get on a plane to Iowa in Miami, and did not make that plane because she had lost her ID and TSA would not allow her to fly. A little later she posted a video on social media yelling in a car (what we think was an uber) about the driver sexually assaulting her. There was some yelling back and forth between her and the driver then nothing. She has not been on social media since then which is extremely unlike her. Brittany is very active on social media all the time. Brittany's phone has not been turned on since that last video she posted. We know her phone has not been turned on because all our text messages are still undelivered status. Brittany was supposed to call her daughters, who are not with her right now, on Friday and never made that call. She has not called to check on her daughters, has not reached out to family, has not been on social media, phone has been off since Thursday right after that scary video she posted.
