They’re designed to help the unhoused transition into permanent housing. Instead, residents say they face additional health and safety hazards and other barriers in LA’s tiny home villages. This LA Public Press analysis of more than 550 incident reports filed by tiny home village employees to LAHSA reveals assaults, drug use, unsanitary conditions and more across a dozen villages designed to shelter and support unhoused people. There were about 150 drug- or alcohol-related incidents reported. More than 110 incident reports described threats, about 100 noted physical and verbal assaults and more than two dozen incidents involved weapons.
