As our SVEConnect crews were nearing completion of internet restoration efforts this afternoon, a South Pittsburg homeowner intentionally cut a main fiber-optic cable that was lying in their yard.

Unfortunately, this has significantly set back restoration efforts and has resulted in an internet outage affecting all of South Pittsburg Mountain and approximately half of the town of South Pittsburg.

We cannot stress this enough: Never approach, move or attempt to cut a line of any kind. Always assume a downed line is dangerous and contact SVEC or the appropriate utility. Cutting or intentionally damaging utility lines is not only dangerous and irresponsible — it may also be considered vandalism.

Our SVEConnect crews are back at work repairing the additional damage and will restore internet service as quickly and safely as possible.

We appreciate the patience of our members as our crews continue working to get everyone reconnected.
