The peaches, the melon, the strawberries, the peppers, the greens, the eggplant, the tomatoes...When we go back to the States I’m not worried about the jet lag. I’m worried about the fact that I won’t get to eat yogurt this perfect for another year until we come back! ❤️🇺🇸🫶🏼🇹🇷🧿❤️

Best for fresh vegetables and fruit, Armutçuk Semt Pazarı is a favorite for me when we visit Ayvalık. I love seeing the kids eyes take it all in -taking in the energy, the chaos and the beautiful, fresh food. And seeing their babaanne know and talk to everyone, the respectful “kolay gelsin” given freely…it’s as essential as knowing how to speak Turkish. ❤️🇹🇷🫶🏻🇺🇸🧿❤️

When I first started to come to Türkiye with my husband, it was 3 TL to 1 American dollar. Now it’s 48 TL to 1 American dollar. And the highest bill is still 200 TL. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE. ❤️🇺🇸🫶🏻🇹🇷🧿❤️

Canadian, American, Australian, California (?!) - what do you call 2 on 1 tennis? And WHY does it have a different name depending on where you are? Here in 🇹🇷 Türkiye it is American doubles 🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️🇹🇷🫶🏻🇺🇸🧿❤️

The verdict is in on my Turkish after two weeks in Türkiye. I need to remember - progress over perfection! ❤️🇺🇸🫶🏻🇹🇷🧿❤️

Our 🇹🇷 🇺🇸 daughter is finally old enough to learn how to sail at the same sailing club my husband grew up sailing with Ayvalık Yelken Spor Kulübü. Her class is two weeks long and she’s loving it. They also do adult sailing classes if you’re not married to a former Turkish National team sailor. 😉❤️🇺🇸🫶🏻🇹🇷🧿❤️

Testing the limits of Turkish grammar concepts while driving home from lunch in Ayvalık.

The definition of an Aegean summer on a single plate. Zucchini blossoms stuffed with fresh herbed rice, cooked in olive oil, and served cold. Eating çiçek dolması is something I look forward to all year long. It marks our time in Ayvalık 🇹🇷. Maybe I’ll grow enough zucchini next year to make this in NJ but it still won’t taste the same. You need the sea breeze, the dry summer heat and family surrounding you for it to taste this good. ❤️🇺🇸🫶🏻🇹🇷🧿❤️
