Staying in Kep, Cambodia was a treat for two nature lovers like us. The city is located on the water but also holds a national forest. After dealing with an ankle injury, we hadn’t gotten to do a whole lot of hiking. We spent the entire afternoon in the forest and stayed until we started to lose light. As we walked back to our motorbike way at the beginning of the trail, we started to hear and see monkeys swinging through the tree limbs around us! We ended the perfect day by having dinner at a small outdoor restaurant where a stray cat decided it liked us and took turns sitting on both of our laps as we waited for our food to come out.

One of the best historical places we visited was La Sagrada Familia. Due to our tight budget, we didn’t go inside but the outside was still incredible. It started being built in 1882 and still isn’t finished! You can see the erosion on one half of the building giving it a “melting” while, on the other half, it looks clean and new. Besides the beaches in Barcelona, La Sagrada Familia was one of our favorite sites.

It’s hard to believe that it was about 2 years ago that we had seen the cube houses in Rotterdam! Although not very far in distance, Rotterdam and Amsterdam are two completely different experiences. When it wasn’t storming on us, we enjoyed walking around the city of Amsterdam, enjoying the old architecture, going out to eat, and feeling the excitement of the nightlife in the city. We were excited for the modern architecture in Rotterdam and the cube houses were something we were looking forward to since before we started traveling. We didn’t plan out our whole trip ahead of time - we picked a few must-see cities and then added places to our itinerary about a week or so in advance after talking with fellow travelers. It’s hard to pick which city we preferred over the other because they are so different, so we would recommend making time for both if you’re ever in the Netherlands.

Unless it was a travel day, we hardly ever got up while it was still dark out. We were feeling extra motivated one night in Nice, so we decided we would make the long walk down to the water to watch the sunrise the next morning. Our alarm went off way too early but we forced ourselves out of bed, pulled on our layers, and half walked/half ran to the water because we were running a little late. We wanted to fly the drone but it needed an update, then the battery was going to die, and everything seemed to go wrong at once. We ended up getting a 2 minute drone flight right at the last minute and then sat down and enjoyed the quiet morning as the sun began to warm our faces. This spot was normally filled with tourists but, before 7am, it was only us and a few runners.

The Nymphenburg Palace in Munich, Germany is a royal building also called “Palace of the Nymphs”. It dates back to the late 1600s. We stumbled upon it while taking a hike and, although we didn’t go inside, we were amazed by the beautiful architecture and huge garden.

These weird baby statues are just one of many odd statues scattered throughout Prague. These babies symbolize Prague’s stunted growth during the communist era. You can find them in Kampa park - a park in which we spent a lot of time taking pictures, lounging in the grass, and watching some live music.

It’s been one week since we had to say goodbye to our cat, Hunter. Everyone who knew him would agree that he was more than just our pet - he was family, he was our child. We are trying to take some time to heal and reminisce on all of the good times we had over the years… all of the snuggles, the laughs, the endless kisses. We miss you so much, Hunter, and we’ll never ever stop loving you.

Prague was debatably one of the most beautiful cities we visited in Europe. Ever single part of the city was an architectural masterpiece - from the towering cathedrals, to the cobblestone streets, to the restaurants and stores. Everyone else must agree because it was very busy, but still very worth it.

The gardens in Cesky Krumlov were unlike anything we’ve experienced in the US. Before walking through the 13th century castle or admiring the gorgeous cathedrals, we explored the rows of perfectly manicured hedges and flowers before reaching a forested area and a pond. Cesky Krumlov is such a beautiful and underrated city in Eastern Europe.

The Pagodenburg is a royal tea house that looks a little plain from the outside, but has an ornate and high class interior with design inspiration from Asia. We decided to go on a hike while in Munich and stumbled upon this building unknowingly. It was free to go inside so we walked in and were blown away by the decor. It was a pretty great introduction to Germany at the start of our 6 months of traveling.
