Over a decade into wedding photography, and I know that the things that inspire me on a wedding day are much different since day one- I still love all the beautiful things.. The dress, the flowers, the tables, fancy guest outfits with matching clutches, and the way everything comes together. Give me a dramatic paper suite any day!
But as I’ve gotten older, and experienced more life and loss and grief, I’ve started paying closer attention to the things happening in between all of that.
Your grandparents taking photos on their phones. Friends laughing way hard, the way your parents look at you while you exchange vows. The people who have known you through every version of yourself, all together in one room.
Because eventually the flowers are gone, the dress gets packed away and the tables are cleared. But the people who were there, and the way it felt to have them there- this is the part I want you to be able to come back to in your photos
So yes, I’m still photographing the beautiful details and the portraits and all of the things you spent months choosing. But I’m also always looking just beyond them, for the little pieces of your life happening in between. Those are the moments that matter 🥹
