Global music distribution is now the realm of three corporations.
Live music is on life-support as the small, independent venues die off, to be replaced by glitzy, shiny, expensive and corporate-controlled faux “homages” to localm icons of the past. With the loss of the environment that supported them, artists languish, and die along with them.
And great music will never be heard. There are tough times ahead.
WDNF-Philly started as an idea to showcase the remarkable original talent in the PA/NJ/DE region - not only today, but all the great original artists, that for as many reasons as there are artists - never had the fortune to achieve national status - and reasons that more often than not had nothing to do with their music.
This happens every day, every year. Anywhere music is performed. We’re going to shine a light on those long-hidden gems. And we’re going to bring the bands that are not being talked about.....yet.
And many may not ever get “talked about”.
But if they make good music, write good songs, make one feel, in whatever genre they principally reside - we can guaranty their music will get played.
