The Germantown Charity Horse Show is a five-day event featuring Hunter/Jumpers, Gypsy Vanners, Tennessee Walking Horses, Flat-Shod Racking Horses, American Saddlebreds, Paso Finos, Sidesaddle, and Carriage Driving. Each year, hundreds of horses and thousands of spectators make their way to Germantown, Tennessee, to participate in this historic United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Heritage Show.

There is a slight risk for severe thunderstorms across portions of the Mid-South tonight. Storms will move into the area from central Arkansas, mainly after midnight. Damaging wind and large hail are the primary concerns.

Declaration of Emergency: The DeSoto County Board of Supervisors issued a Declaration of Emergency following severe weather that moved through the area Sunday night. Strong winds, and possibly a tornado, caused widespread damage, including downed trees & power lines, blocked roads, and power outages affecting thousands of residents.

Emergency crews are working across the county to clear roads and restore access, and additional help has been requested to assist in the response.

Please stay home if you can. In addition to fallen trees - there are numerous power lines that are down across the county.

If you need a safe place, the storm shelter on Riley Street (behind Hernando Elementary) is open and has power.

We’ll continue sharing updates as recovery efforts continue. Stay safe.
