Pinecrest wrapped up its Holiday Hoops tournament yesterday with strong showings from both squads. The Pinecrest Highschool Men’s Basketball earned runner-up while the Pinecrest Women's Basketball claimed third place.
The Patriots finished runner-up after an 81-51 loss to Grace Christian in Monday’s finale. Pinecrest cruised past Topsail 80-45 and Annandale, Virginia 77-49 to reach the championship. Eric Melton and Rudd Sutton were named to the All-Tournament team.

The Lady Patriots dominated in a 62-34 win over Panther Creek. They opened with a 50-21 victory against Apex before falling to Southern Durham in the semis, 50-42, despite rallying from a 20-point deficit. Kennedy Moore shined, averaging 20 points per game and earning All-Tournament honors.

"The Holiday in the Pines is back! We are very grateful for everyone who supported the event,” Coach Aysha Pride said, naming efforts from Moore, Aniya McGregor and Nia Berrien.
”It was great to have the community back in the gym for the Holiday in the Pines. The atmosphere for our players was second to none. We appreciate being able to play in that kind of environment this time of year. It's very important for our team development,” Coach Tramaine Pride said.
