🚨 A registered s*x offender in Southern Pines has been arrested again on child exploitation charges and is being held on a $750,000 bond.

💳 Two Pinehurst in-home caregivers are accused of stealing nearly $50,000 from an elderly man by forging checks and diverting annuity payments.

🕊️ The human remains found near Ellerbe after Christmas have been identified as 75-year-old Roxanne Shrewsbury. Officials say she died of natural causes and no foul play is suspected.

🔥 Fire crews rushed to contain more than a dozen small roadside fires near Hamlet after sparks from a trailer ignited dry grass. Officials say dry conditions are making even small sparks dangerous across the region.

🧥 Meanwhile in West End, kindness is hanging on a fence. The Fence Angels Coat Drive is collecting winter jackets for anyone in need — simply take one if you need one, or drop one off if you can.

🏫 Moore County Schools are also making a move toward transparency. The school board is adding new language to a major construction contract to prevent political donations tied to the upcoming school bond vote.
