Two weeks ago JJ, Jason and I officially kicked off the 2023 The Salvation Army Great Lakes Division Red Kettle Season by lighting the world’s largest kettle downtown.
Well today I need your help! I’m ringing the bell as part of the “Celebrity Bell Ring Weekend!” I’ll be at the Kroger on Haggerty north of 5 mile in Plymouth from 10-12 this morning! But if you’re not in the area, check my ‘virtual’ red kettle in the comments to donate! (Jason's ringing today too! Help me beat him! 😁)

Day one of the JJ & JoAnne show was March 16th, 2020.
The world had just shut down because of Covid. We couldn't go into work, but Jim and I thought maybe we could get away with broadcasting together from his house. That worked for one day - then I began broadcasting from home too.

For most of our almost 4 years together, we've worked remote, because even when we could back into the studio, JJ realized he could get more sleep each morning if he broadcast from home. (And when you've worked in the business for as long as JJ has, your boss says okay!)
This week we've been in the studio together for his farewell shows. Today is show number 1,020. We have a lot of special guests and surprises lined up for JJ.

The WHY behind our Children's Miracle Network Radiothon today on WOMC Detroit. Connor suffered a soccer injury and spent 56 days at Beaumont Children's, most of them in a halo.
Pet therapy and the Child Life Specialists made all the difference to him. They even planned a dinner for his parents one night for a distraction. Today, he's healthy and playing soccer again.

As a parent, I can't imagine hearing the words 'Your child has cancer'. Hudson's parents heard those words. His story is so powerful, and it sums up why Jim JJ Johnson, Jason on WOMC and I are raising money today for Beaumont Children's through Children's Miracle Network on WOMC Detroit

I can’t tell you how much I’m going to miss this guy when he retires. I was over on his side of town today for an event, so we met for lunch at the Paint Creek Cider Mill! JJ talks about it all the time, and now I know why. One of the best turkey reubens I’ve ever had! (And I may have bought some donuts, apple crisp and specialty mustards☺️)

I have this picture hanging in my bedroom. It was from earlier this year when my husband and I went to Israel for a tour of
The Holy Land. It was the most special trip of our lives.

To see the terror, evil and horror that was inflicted there since last weekend has left me sickened, heartbroken and honestly, at a loss for words.

I pray for the safety and well-being of the hostages taken, for those brutally killed and their grieving family members, for the growing number of innocent victims on all sides of this conflict... and for peace. And when I can't even find the words to pray, I find comfort in Scripture that says God hears the groanings of our heart.

In honor of National Pizza Month, thought I'd share my chicken BBQ pizza recipe! It's so good, if I do say so myself! 🤭

-Stonefire Artisan Flatbread from Kroger
-BBQ sauce (that goes on the bread first)
-Rotisserie Chicken (shredded)
-Cheddar Cheese (I prefer it over Mozzarella)
-Blue Cheese
-Red Onion
-Banana Peppers
-A little Salt and Oregano

Bake at 425 for 8-9 minutes directly on rack. Enjoy!

Earlier this year my husband and I visited the 9-11 Memorial and Museum in New York City. It’s hard to put into words the emotions that came flooding back…

~the terror
~the loss
~the fear
~the heartache

We owe it all the victims - and those who lost their lives in the years that followed - to never forget.

Spaulding For Children in Southfield is a national leader in foster care and adoption. They develop and providing parenting support, resources and training. They do PHENOMENAL work helping kids and families!

I'll be there emceeing the program.You can even join us just for the meal and program. Lots of great silent auction and raffle items, and a pretty cool gift bag as well! :)

I had a bit of a fangirl moment this morning when I met Jesus…
okay - the man who plays Jesus in The Chosen! 😉Jonathan Roumie was as kind and genuine as I imagined he would be. Funny thing - when I left for the broadcast at the Celebrity Golf Outing this morning, I grabbed my Chosen Tumbler. I had no idea Jonathan would be there.

If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it! You can watch it for free on The Chosen App. A completely crowd-funded series on Jesus and his disciples that is phenomenally done!!
