MISUMI Group Inc. has launched MISUMI Americas (MISUMI USA), a specification-driven global manufacturing and supply chain company.

MISUMI Group also recently announced a $1-billion global investment to support growth initiatives, including significant investments in the U.S. The company appointed its first American CEO to spearhead U.S. expansion through MISUMI Americas.

Association for Advancing Automation has named Jim Devaprasad of Lake Superior State University (LSSU) the recipient of the 2026 A3 Educator of the Year Award.

As a professor in LSSU’s School of Engineering and Technology, Devaprasad has spent 40 years helping shape the next generation of automation professionals. He has helped secure more than $3 million in robotics and automation equipment for the university's Center for Advanced Robotics Engeneering, where he serves as director, along with more than $2 million in grants for engineering programs.

Devaprasad and his students will be part of Automate 2026 in Chicago, where LSSU will exhibit in the Education Pavilion.

The U.S. Navy has awarded $991.1 million to Lockheed Martin to produce 432 electronic warfare modification kits for F-35 jets. These kits cover F-35 jets for the Air Force and the Navy, as well as other allies using Joint Strike Fighter aircraft.

The kits are part of the Technology Refresh-3 effort, which involves preparing existing F-35 jets for the entire fleet’s transition to the Block IV technology. This includes increased missile capacity, advanced electronic warfare capabilities and improved target recognition.

The SME Education Foundation will award over 250 scholarships in 2026, supporting students pursuing post-secondary education in technical fields that power manufacturing. Select recipients were recognized at the SME International Awards Gala hosted by the organization earlier this month.

This year alone, the Foundation awarded over $1.5 million in scholarship awards to graduating high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students—the highest total in program history.
