New work from the shop, and one of our favorites this year.

GRAITEC STEEL is a steel detailing and fabrication toolset built into Autodesk Advance Steel and Inventor. Software that technical does not automatically make for a video anyone wants to watch.

So Meticulous Image organized it around what the user actually does. Create, detail, fabricate. Three words, three sections, in the order a real detailer works rather than the order the menus appear.

Then the visual approach: actual steel structures, actual fabrication floors, digital wireframe layered over the built environment. The whole point of the product is that line between the model on the screen and the beam on the floor, so we made you look at it.

Live action, motion graphics, UI capture, voiceover, color, and sound design were all handled in house. Making technical subjects watchable is the core of what we do for engineering, manufacturing, and technology companies across DFW and nationally.

Credit to the GRAITEC team for a sharp brief.

Something we have been meaning to do for a long time is finally done. The new Meticulous Image site is live.

Here is the embarrassing part. We have spent years building videos for other companies while our own website quietly aged out behind us. Client deadlines are real and they always win. Ours never made the calendar.

What we ended up building is not a highlight reel. It is a set of case studies. Each one lays out what a client came to us with, how we approached it, and what the finished video needed to accomplish.

A reel is fun to watch. A case study is actually useful if you are trying to figure out whether we are the right people for your project.

Debunking the Animation Myth: Why It Is a Full-Scale Production

A common misconception frequently encountered in the corporate video industry is the idea that animation is the cheap and easy alternative to live-action filming. The phrase "just animate it" is often used under the impression that removing a physical crew and location automatically reduces complexity and cost.

Dan Maitland, owner and operator of Meticulous Image Inc., addresses this fallacy directly in his latest video. He explains that while live-action production involves capturing and sculpting an existing reality, animation requires the creation of an entire world from nothing.

From the motion language and pacing to the environments and character design, every second of a professional animation is built with intentionality. It is not a shortcut; it is a sophisticated medium that requires its own specialized production process.

For companies in the B2B, healthcare, and technology sectors, the priority should not be determined by what is cheapest. Instead, Maitland suggests that leadership should focus on the fastest way to build trust and win the attention of their audience in a crowded digital landscape. Whether through a camera lens or a digital stylus, Meticulous Image focuses on choosing the right format to make complex ideas feel simple.

Some projects stay with you. This Solo Stove story is one of them.

At a time when most production was stuck on webcams and virtual events, Meticulous Image was flying (safely) around the country to capture real people living real life around a smokeless flame. This visit took us to Garden Home, Oregon, to spend time with Ernest and Johanna.

Their story starts with peach pies in a tiny New York apartment and grows into a backyard ritual of cooking outside together. The Solo Stove and its grill accessory aren’t the “stars” of the piece—they’re the tools that make that ritual easier, cleaner, and a little bit magical.

What we love most here is the intersection of design and feeling: hearing a seasoned product thinker talk about airflow, perforations, stainless and cast iron doing their job, while seeing exactly what that design delivers—great food, real conversation, and that unmistakable smoky flavor without filling the house or dealing with a mess.

This is the kind of work Meticulous Image exists to do:
– Go where the story actually lives
– Treat customers as the hero, not the B‑roll
– Give useful products the same cinematic respect you’d expect in a high-end documentary

Huge thanks to the Kim family for letting us into a small slice of their life around the fire.
