LIFE LATELY…

I haven’t been posting much on here in the longest time, but it hasn’t all been dead quiet on this side…

Here are some highlights of the last 3 or so months:

👶🏼 I’ve been growing a baby! And along with this came lots of sickness and fatigue and priorities had to shift a little to make space for days where I feel like I can’t even get my head off the pillow.

👩‍💼 Speaking of babies… I’ve been hard at work BTS on a third business. We’re still in the planning and brainstorming stages, but I’m hoping to launch this family business by middle 2022. Hint: ✨

🌍 We’re back in South Africa! My husband needed to be back in SA for work, we missed home, so we all decided to tag along and make a nice, long holiday of it! We’re not sure how long we’ll stay here, or if we’ll go back to the States permanently, but for now, we’re just enjoying this season of life.

💻 I’m still hard at work making ⭐️ magic ⭐️ happen for my clients!

📕 The feedback I’ve received from my Social Media Planner (link in bio) has been wonderful and I love that you all love it too!

And that’s about it from me, for now… As we (hopefully) head into an easier stage of this pregnancy, I’m excited to be around these woods a bit more. I’ve planned some great content and can’t wait to share it with you soon soon!

Hands up if you can relate… 🙋‍♀️

⭐️ Instagram announced the link sticker will roll out to all accounts and not just those with over 10K followers. 🎉

This is great news for all small business owners, and while I’m still waiting for the link sticker to appear on my profile, I’ve seen it roll out to some of my clients (with less than 10K followers), so crossing fingers and toes for a faster than usual roll-out!

Some ways you can use the link sticker:

🔗 promoting your services and offers
🔗 getting people to sign up to your newsletter
🔗 affiliate links to your favourite products
🔗 sharing the ❤️ with brands and business you love
🔗 getting people to follow you on other social media platforms

🚩🚩🚩 RED FLAGS TO LOOK OUT FOR WHEN WORKING WITH A CLIENT 🚩🚩🚩

It’s time to discuss the biggest small biz taboo - how to deal with “bad” clients…

We’ve all had those chest tightening moments, the ones that make your stomach lurch, or makes you break out in a cold sweat.

🚩 As a small business owner, these moments usually happen for me when I ignore all the red flags in front of me and sign on the dotted line anyway.

The first time I realised a client wasn’t a good fit, I went into a spin and I spent countless sleepless nights stressing about how I am going to make this work. “Do I really need the money?” “What if I never find any other clients again?” “What if they bad mouth me to others?” “But, it’s really good money!”

I ignored the very first (and most vital) red flag – trusting my gut, and the whole experience made me feel anxious ALL THE TIME!

In the world of running your own business, there are great clients, the ones that make it a joy to work with them. And then… Then there are those clients that can make life a living hell for you!

But, the longer I'm in business the more I learnt that I have the power to avoid (or get out of) any bad client situation! I’ve also learnt about the power of an exit clause in a contract 😉

Here are some comments I have received from clients and potential clients that are the biggest 🚩 🚩 🚩 I look for now when I work with clients.

Hi, I’m Imka and I’m the owner of Imka Webb Digital Marketing. I live in sunny Johannesburg, South Africa, with my husband and our beautiful little girl.

5 Things you might not know about me:

1. I have an honours degree in Linguistics (the study of language) and I did my honours research in the language of advertising with a special focus on subtle sexism and racism in print advertising.

2. I worked in various creative fields, including media, magazines, advertising, SEO, public relations, social media and digital marketing.

3. I’m quite the foodie and enjoy baking, cooking and eating. It must be from working for a food magazine for a long time 😉

4. I have a large lipstick collection, yet I almost never wear lipstick!

5. Although I never want to study a formal degree again, I love doing small courses and try to do one every month.
