You’re posting every single day, getting 300 views, and secretly wondering if social media is even worth it anymore.
I promise you’re not the only one.
Every week I audit local business accounts, and I see the exact same mistakes over and over again.
The restaurant posts a photo of a burger with “Come eat with us.”
The salon posts a picture of hair with “Appointments available.”
The contractor posts a finished roof with “Another happy customer.”
None of those posts are bad.
They’re just forgettable.
Instead…
Show me the customer who drove 45 minutes for your famous mozzarella sticks.
Show me the stylist talking a client out of getting bangs because she knows they’ll regret it.
Show me the landscaper uncovering a 100 year old stone walkway in someone’s backyard.
Show me the baker pulling the first loaf out of the oven at 5 a.m.
Show me the plumber explaining the weirdest thing he’s ever pulled out of a drain.
People don’t share advertisements.
They share stories.
They save helpful advice.
They comment on things that make them laugh or say, “That happened to me.”
And here’s the biggest mistake of all…
You’re trying to sell on every single post instead of building familiarity.
The businesses that seem to be “everywhere” aren’t lucky.
They’re just consistently creating content that makes people feel like they already know them before they ever walk through the door.
The next time you go to post, don’t ask yourself,
“What can I promote today?”
Ask yourself,
“What would someone in my town actually stop scrolling to watch?”
That’s the content that gets remembered.
That’s the content that gets shared.
And that’s the content that brings people through your door.
