Welcome To Feature Friday!

Bait: Frenzy Jig( our take on a chatterbait)
🎯 Feature Friday: Frenzy Jig in Shiner pattern
This style of bladed jig is a killer when fish are feeding on craws or locked onto the bottom. It’s a go-to for high-pressure fisheries, cold fronts, and transitional structure like rock-to-sand seams.

πŸ”₯ Why we love it:
The Frenzy Jig’s compact, stand-up head design mimics a fleeing baitfish and keeps your bait upright even on uneven rock or shell beds. Paired with a pintail trailer, it delivers the subtle realism that big bass can’t ignore. The hand-tied skirt pulses with every hop or shake, drawing attention without overdoing it.

πŸ“ Where to Fish It:
βœ… Rock Transitions – Drag across chunk rock, gravel-to-mud lines, or riprap for roaming bass.
βœ… Secondary Points – Ideal in early spring and fall when crawfish are active and bass stage up.
βœ… Ledges & Breaklines – Slow-hop it along depth changes where big bass cruise.
βœ… Pressure Water – Finesse profile excels on lakes with high fishing pressure or cold fronts.

🎣 Rig Tip:
Use a craw-style soft plastic trailer like a twin-tail grub or compact chunk. Drag slowly or use a short lift-drop cadence. Can also use it as a search bait with a pintail minnow. Most bites come when it’s dead still on the bottom. Pair with 12–15 lb fluorocarbon and a 7’+ MHF rod for control and hooksetting power.

🎣 Throwback Thursday: Forgotten Crankbait Classics
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Let’s take it back…

Before forward-facing sonar and high-speed reels, before every bait came in 200 color patterns and had tungsten everythingβ€”there were a few old-school crankbaits that just flat-out caught fish.

One of our favorites?
The Mann’s Baby 1-Minus.
A true legend. Ran just inches below the surface, perfect over grass flats or shallow rock. You could burn it, pause it, or slow-roll it through coverβ€”and bass would crush it.

Another one?
Bagley Balsa B2.
Handmade feel. That tight balsa wiggle. Couldn’t beat it for clear water and post-front fish. And it had that β€œknock” sound that just triggered strikes.

Some of these baits are hard to find todayβ€”or if you do, they’re stashed away in tackle boxes like gold.

πŸ‘‰ What’s an old-school crankbait you wish they still made?
Drop your throwback favorites in the comments πŸ‘‡
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
🧑 Crankbaits from the past weren’t fancyβ€”but they had soul. Some were carved by hand, tuned on the water, and passed down between anglers like heirlooms.

Whether it was a Storm Wiggle Wart, Rebel Deep Wee-R, or that one color Rapala discontinued way too soonβ€”we all have that one bait we wish we never lost.

🧡 Bonus Tip: If you ever find an old-school crankbait at a garage sale or flea market… buy it. Fish it. Or just keep it safe. You might never find another.

Welcome To Wired Up Wednesday!
Bait Feature: Reelistik Buzzbait β€” Chartreuse/White (3/8 oz)
🎨 Why this color: Great in stained to moderately clear water during low-light hours. Bright flash draws attention from distance.
Caption:
⚑ Wired Up Wednesday: Loud, bright, and dangerous. The Chartreuse/White buzzbait gets the call on cloudy days.
🐟 Why it works: The color pops on the surface and imitates distressed baitfish or frogs.
πŸ” Presentation tip: Fish it fast across shallow flats or laydownsβ€”especially at sunrise.
βš™οΈ Rigging setup: 3/8 oz buzzbait, add a paddle toad trailer, use 40–50 lb braid.

🎯 Tackle Tip Tuesday: Hover Strolling
AKA: The Suspended Glide Attack
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Why It Works:
Hover strolling is a finesse-style glide presentation that keeps your bait in the strike zone longer than traditional jigging or swimbaits.

By pairing forward-facing sonar with a hover jighead and fluke-style soft plastic, you can stroll your bait horizontally in front of suspended fishβ€”getting bites from bass that ignore vertical baits like the Damiki rig.
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
πŸ•“ When to Use It:
β€’ Pre- to post-spawn
β€’ Suspended fish in 5–20 ft
β€’ Over brush, creek channels, or bait balls
β€’ Fish are following but not eating
β€’ Great for pressured lakes or clear water
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
🎣 Setup & Tackle:
Rod: 6’10”–7’3” ML or M spinning, extra fast tip
Reel: 2500–3000 spinning reel w/ smooth drag
Line:
β€’ Main: 10–15 lb braid
β€’ Leader: 6–8 lb fluoro (4–6 ft)
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
🧩 Baits & Jigheads:
Soft Plastics (3"–4.5")
β€’ Z-Man Jerk ShadZ
β€’ Keitech Shad Impact
β€’ Big Bite Slim Minnow
β€’ Bass Assassin Elite Shiner

Colors:
β€’ Clear water – Ice, Ghost Minnow
β€’ Stained – White, Chartreuse Ice, Pro Blue

Hover Jighead:
β€’ 1/16–1/8 oz, 90Β° line tie
β€’ Nail weight optional for glide tuning
β€’ Lightwire finesse hook
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
πŸ›  Rigging Tips:

Rig bait straight

Add nail weight if bait noses down

Tie leader direct to jighead (no swivel)

Bait should glide horizontally when paused
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
πŸŒ€ How to Work It:
β€’ Cast past target
β€’ Let bait fall above fish
β€’ Slow retrieve w/ subtle twitches
β€’ Use sonar to keep bait in front
β€’ Add pausesβ€”that’s when they strike!
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
βœ… Pro Tips:
β€’ Use jigheads with wire keepers
β€’ Don’t overwork like a jerkbait
β€’ Target 8–15 ft suspending fish
β€’ Use sonar to stay in the cone
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Perfect for spotted bass, smallmouth, and picky largemouth that won’t commit. Hover strolling bridges finesse casting and sonar snipingβ€”natural, slow, and deadly.

🎯 Match the Hatch Monday
Bait Feature: Minnow on a Damiki or Fire Eye Jig
Forage Target: Shad
Caption:
🎯 This week's hatch match: a subtle soft plastic minnow is πŸ”₯ when fish are suspended around shad schools.
πŸ“‘ Why it works: Combines natural fall and movement with the surgical precision of forward-facing sonarβ€”perfect for pressured bass, crappie, or walleye.
πŸ” Presentation tip: Cast past the fish, ease the bait into view, and let it flutter. Watch the eat in real time.
βš™οΈ Rigging setup: 1/8–1/4 oz jighead, light fluorocarbon, forward-facing sonar like LiveScope.
When to Use It:
β€’ Winter through early spring
β€’ Clear or pressured lakes
β€’ Over brush piles or mid-depth bait clouds

β€œBe still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10

🎣 Welcome To Scenario Saturday

Deep Cool-Water Ambush
Scenario:
You’re off a deep bend where the thermocline sits at 18 ft. It’s overcast post-rain, baitfish are holding tight, and you get a flicker at 20 ftβ€”but no follow.

Overcast cool-water ambush zone. Baitball flickers at 20 ft… but the big one won’t chase.

🎯 What bait / rig are you dropping down to trigger a reaction strike from suspended bass?

Welcome To Wired Up Wednesday!
Bait Feature: Reelistik Spinnerbait β€” Blue Sunfish (1/2 oz)
🎨 Why this color: Imitates bluegill and sunfish in clear or pressured water. The orange throat adds a bite-trigger accent.
Caption:
⚑ Wired Up Wednesday: When bass key on bluegill, throw the Green Pumpkin/Orange spinnerbait.
πŸ’₯ Why it works: Larger profile and natural tones draw big bitesβ€”especially near spawning zones or fry-guarding fish.
πŸ” Presentation tip: Slow-roll it around shallow docks or outer grass edges in 5–10 ft.
βš™οΈ Rigging setup: 1/2 oz spinnerbait, gold blades, 30 lb braid or 20 lb fluoro.

🎯 Tackle Tip Tuesday: The Damiki Rig
AKA: Vertical Sniping 101

When bass are suspended and stubborn, this cold-water finesse rig gets the job done. Unlike swimbaits that fall or move constantly, the Damiki Rig hovers horizontallyβ€”right in their faceβ€”making it ideal for fish that won’t chase.

It’s designed for LiveScope and forward-facing sonar, letting you present your bait to individual fish with surgical precision.
