Upper Cumberland Connection-Cookeville/Putnam County
⭐️FEEL GOOD FRIDAY⭐️
On December 3rd, 2025, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office became the third county in the state of Tennessee to receive Tier 2 Accreditation from Tennessee Corrections Institute (TCI).
This achievement reflects Sheriff Eddie Farris’ continued commitment to implementing effective, evidence-based programs that support rehabilitation and successful re-entry into society. Since being in office, Sheriff Farris has also ensured that Corrections Deputies receive training to maintain the safety of both employees and inmates.
Since 2022, Putnam County Jail has been a Tier 1 Accredited facility, meeting all 25 standards established by TCI to demonstrate professionalism and dedication to excellence in Jail operations. These standards range from specialized training for staff, providing evidence-based programs for inmates, medical and mental health services, and thorough reporting of all jail operations.
Over the past year, Lt. Stinnett has worked towards meeting the rigorous standards set forth by TCI to become Tier 2 Accredited. On December 3rd, 2025, the TCI Board of Control met and formally recognized Putnam County Jail as a Tier 2 Accredited Facility. This will also allow Putnam County to receive increased state funding for each state sentenced inmate housed in Putnam County Jail.
Sheriff Farris said, “Our goal is not just to operate a jail, but to provide a professional, safe environment than can provide individuals with the opportunity to return back to society as a productive citizen. This accreditation is a testament to the hard work of Major Tim Nash, Lt. Stinnett and the rest of the Corrections Staff.”
