Welp

Here I am, somehow I’m 40

Which feels a little suspicious considering I still don’t feel grown enough to be in charge of all the things I’m currently in charge of

But if this is 40… I’ll take it
I’ve built a business I love
I get to turn the weird ideas in my head into real things
I have people I love
a life that looks nothing like I thought it would
and a whole lot to be thankful for

There have been hard years mixed in with some really beautiful ones, and I think that’s what makes 40 feel a little different

I don’t want to go backwards
I’m not scared of getting older
I’m just really thankful I get to

So here’s to 40
still figuring it out
still laughing way too loud
still wearing the ridiculous shoes
still creating
still dreaming up what’s next
and clearly still not acting my age 😘

Apparently this child has been left unsupervised for almost 40 years (literally)

And quite frankly, I think we can all agree that somebody should have stepped in

Here’s photographic evidence that I have, in fact, always been like this

But looking through these baby pictures has been a little emotional too because they tell one story…

just not the whole story

When I look at these photos, I see a little girl who smiled for the camera

What you can’t see is everything she was living through

If you had told that little girl where she’d be at 40, she never would’ve believed you

A family who actually loves her
kids who are her whole world
a husband who has always been in her corner
friends who became family
a business she gets excited to wake up for every morning
and a life that feels peaceful

Not perfect

Just peaceful

Looking back, I don’t wish my story had been different because every single hard season I was dragged through shaped the person I am today, for the better

And while there are still dreams I haven’t reached yet, I can honestly say I’m really thankful for the life I’ve built

So here’s to the little girl in these photos

She had no idea how she was going to get here

And somehow…

everything turned out better than she could’ve imagined
