Take a virtual tour of McCormick's Creek State Park, Indiana’s oldest state park, with a new story map!

This story map will help guide you along Trail 5 through Wolf Cave Nature Preserve, either virtually or in person, to see damage left by the 2023 tornado which directly and seriously impacted the park. The story map allows you to explore the path of the tornado, learn about the nature preserve ecology, see our invasive management work, and more!

FYI for local motorists who travel through nearby Ellettsville.

📍🔄 S.R. 46 - Ellettsville

On or after Friday, August 29, crews will begin Phase 2 of bridge deck overlay work on S.R. 46 over Jacks Defeat Creek in Ellettsville. Phase 1 work will be complete prior to the start of Phase 2. S.R. 46 will remain reduced to one lane and a 10-foot width limit will be in effect while work is in progress. Traffic will be shifted to the right lane of eastbound S.R. 46 during Phase 2. Work is expected to be complete in late November, weather permitting.

Cook, Inc. recently donated over 12,000 food items to help support our Backpack Buddies Program.

The S-OCS Backpack Buddies Program provides nutritious meals for over 220 students with food insecurity at home on weekends and over school breaks.

Today is day 1 of the county budget hearings. These are a workshop to work through the budget, and all decisions are subject to change before presenting the final budget to the state

After hearing an update on a potential increase in health insurance costs and budgeting for that change, the council voted to move everyone up to at least the low point of the new wage study.

Stay tuned for more updates throughout the county’s budget hearings.

We are SO excited to announce that our Owen Valley FFA will be transitioning their focus from goats to cattle!

At Valley Cattle Co., our mission is to create a successful cattle farm that not only provides quality meat for our community, but also creates a hands-on learning environment for our students and FFA members at Owen Valley High School.
