The Clay County Sheriff's office reports driving conditions are deteriorating due to visibility. Visibility does vary, but whiteout conditions and little to no visibility is an issue throughout the area.
Please do not make any unnecessary travel if possible.

Also, the Minnesota Department of Transportation has issued a No Travel Advisory for all state highways and Interstate 90 in South Central Minnesota. Strong winds and blowing snow are creating blizzard and whiteout conditions.

A system moves in overnight. Early impacts are limited, but a band of snow develops late tonight into Sunday morning, reaching I-29 around 5–7 AM. Snow shifts east into southwest MN/northwest IA by late morning and ends by mid-afternoon. Along I-29, expect 3–4 hours of snow/blowing snow. Mixed precip is possible early, but temps near/above freezing limit impacts. Areas of fog may linger overnight, mainly in northwest IA and southwestern MN improving by 3–6 AM.

* WHAT...Snow and blowing snow expected. Visibilities as low as a
half mile at times. Total snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches with isolated spots around 5 inches possible. Winds gusting
as high as 50 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota.

* WHEN...From 3 AM Sunday to 6 AM CST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
