The possibility of a few severe storms exists within the blue circles, and we are right in between them. For Spencer and the surrounding counties, we’ll mainly see a few isolated showers—especially in our southern counties—from early afternoon through early evening. It’s already been sprinkling on and off since around noon, and that will continue throughout the afternoon.

A Flood Watch is in effect from 4 PM this afternoon through Friday morning for portions of north-central to northeast Iowa.

Today’s severe weather outlook mainly focuses outside our listening area, once again targeting far western Nebraska along with much of central and northeastern South Dakota for a second straight day.

For our area, we’re not expecting any tornado or hail threat today. However, there is about a 5% chance for isolated strong winds later this afternoon and evening.

The latest HRRR model from this morning suggests we may only see a few isolated showers—if anything at all. Because of that, I don’t expect much of a wind threat early on. However, that could change later if storms organize into a line as they move into central Iowa, similar to what we showed in our previous post.
