Stop. Using. Women!!! I will never understand why some PR reps and brands (who get fairly PAID for their work) feel like offering some cheese and crackers and flowers at an event is a fair trade for tapping into my audience. Or anyone’s. It’s disrespectful. Especially when they are pocketing the cash for the work of others to make the event a success for the business.

Being an influencer/content creator and writer with over 50k people on FB and IG following my work after building the audience for 10 years of *tireless* effort, I know what it takes to make it all happen. It makes me so sad and angry to see other content creators get taken advantage of.

It takes so much time to not only build and cultivate the community online, but it also takes time to respond to the invitation, drive to the location, shoot the content, edit the content, and post it on my channels. A typical 30 minute event takes me at least three hours to work. An hour? At least 4 hours total. That doesn’t even mention having the top-of-the-line iPhone, audio equipment, storing the content on the 4TB cloud service I pay for, and all of the creative energy.

Miss me with that devaluing of my labor, thank you. This is my profession, I’m not working for literal peanuts.

I’d rather be home with my corgis in peace. ✌🏼
