Blue skies, bent rods, and sockeye flashing in the current. days like this on our private Kenai River lot remind us exactly why we love what we do.
Watching guests hook into fresh reds right from the bank never gets old… and it has us already fired up for next season.
2026 is shaping up to be something special, and peak dates are moving fast. If a sunny day on the river with a limit of sockeye sounds like your kind of vacation, now’s the time to lock it in.
We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to Alaska Kenai Adventures for another unforgettable summer on the Kenai.

MarDon Resort Fresh News – November 14th, 2025

There’s still time to get in on some hot fishing in this cold weather. Potholes Reservoir is still producing large Trout, Plenty of Bluegill & Crappie, Walleye, and even 20-plus-pound Channel cats. Some of the best fishing is still yet to come!

Walleye – Anglers have been having great luck finding walleye, throwing Jerkbaits and minnow-style crankbaits along the dam. Bladebaits are also starting to shine around Goose Island, the mouth of Crab Creek, Perch Point, and the outlets of Moses Lake.

Trout – Trolling #7 Berkley flicker shads, Needlefish spoons, WeeGee spoons, and Macks Lure Wedding Ring Rigs tipped with night crawlers has been producing limits of large Rainbow Trout quickly. Most anglers are targeting 15 to 30 feet of water and speeds up to 3 mph. If you don’t have a boat shore anglers have also been doing very good as well from Medicare Beach using night crawlers and powerbait.

Bass – Reports have been very sporadic this last week. Some anglers have reported great days with multiple 4 plus pounders, while other anglers report tough days with just a few over 1 pound.

Dock Fishing – The MarDon dock has remained very active this week for Crappie, Bluegill, Walleye, and Channel Cats. Anglers are reporting limits of crappie and bluegill in the 10-15in range. Most anglers have down sized their baits to small presentation baits such as Bobby Garland Itty Bits and Gulp 1 inch Minnows. Anglers are picking up Walleye on Blade baits and Rapala Jigging Raps. Anglers targeting Cats are using cut bait and stink bait set out on the deepest parts of the dock. As a reminder, the dock is RESERVED FOR RESORT GUESTS ONLY. Anglers utilizing the dock must be staying in the resort and must be wearing a dock pass.

The current water level on the Potholes Reservoir is 1038.51 feet – Rising 1.46 feet this past week. Water temperatures range from 42 to 47 degrees, depending on where you are on the Reservoir. As always, for more info or help choosing tackle, stop into our fully stocked tackle shop. We also carry ammo, boating and hunting accessories and are open 7 days a week all year or call the MarDon Resort Tackle store for current conditions and fishing information at 509-346-2651
