"Uncle” Bob Hewes was never one to sit still. Frugal, unflagging, and forthright, his life took him down many paths—truck driver, contractor, mechanic, pilot, commercial fisherman, and boat builder.

Always the innovator, Uncle Bob built this 24’ ocean boat powered by an 85 HP Nash 600 engine—a bold design for its time. He became a familiar face in Neah Bay, well into the 1970s.
