Check out the new AR/VR headset from Apple, equipped with Apple silicon chips that give it performance on par with Apple's Macs. It features two chips that allow it to perform complex tasks and handle virtual reality capabilities, and it can operate independently of an iPhone or a Mac. The design of the headset is sleek and lightweight with an external battery pack worn at the waist. With high-resolution micro OLED displays, the headset is immersive with more than a dozen cameras for tracking hand movements and gestures.
There are multiple 3D-sensing modules for detecting hand gestures and objects, and it supports voice control, skin detection, spatial detection, and expression detection. The App Store for the headset will focus on gaming, streaming video, and video conferencing, and it will run "xrOS," a new operating system. The AR/VR headset will also have an iOS-like interface that will be immediately familiar to iPhone and iPad users, and it will also be able to be used as a display for a connected Mac.
The headset supports both AR and VR capabilities, which is called mixed reality. The headset will be available for purchase at a price around $3,000.
