AFM was a great experience. Very well organized and there was plenty to do (workshops, screenings, lounges, exhibitors), especially since it was at the Fairmont Century Plaza, which is right across the street from Westfield Century Center.

Learned quite a bit about where the industry is going, what are the challenges, and what it means for writers/producers/distributors.

Hollywood has priced themselves out of the market in a few ways, so it's definitely going to be an hill battle. From exorbitant budgets to uncompromising unions, there needs to be some major discussions if they're going to turn things back around and bring movies back to LA.

I dont candone alcohol or drugs, but more writers need to remember this, as they sit up all night thinking the same thing. It's a natural part of writing that even the greats go through. You gotta find a (preferably healthy) way to tap into your creative flow.

They all had a little bit of help. A lot of them were drunk (and high) when they wrote our classics.

For all you anime fans. Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Gaye Kruger Ribble who is known for her voice acting work on the 1987 anime Wicked City, which is a neo-noir horror OVA directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri. She provided the English voice for the character Makie in the Streamline Pictures dub.

Wicked City is also one of the inspirations for my screenplay Reclamation.

Had a great time at the Authentic Global Film Festival. Met some solid people and made some interesting connections. We'll see what happens next.

The real mvp of the story was Scar's mother, Eshe. She did her best to embrace and support both cubs, with respect to the hierarchy. The skills and values she instilled kept everyone alive in one way or another.

Scar was a symptom of bad rearing on the side of his father. Scar was caring and considerate, but his simp attitude turned him into a hater, something a "good" father would've dealt with.

Notice the difference in how Mufasa reared Simba, just saying. Simba still needed his ass spanked for leaving the pride, not once, but twice (which would've prolonged Mufasa's life), but you get my point.
