Ten years ago, Rob and I were in Hollywood cheering on and for the both nights of the finale of , and it only gave us more respect for the show, the pros, and especially the crew that moves every single set piece to completely transformed the ballroom during commercial breaks. It was an absolutely astounding feat. I was especially excited to take along my beloved Aunt Mary Pat and her sister in law, and seeing their excitement match mine was truly a gift!!! My favorite kind of surprise is one that isn’t something you can buy. Just genuine love and connection!

It goes without saying that we are cheering on to bring home the disco ball trophy. Go get ‘em, tiger!!!!

✨ Winter Glow Spectacular is bringing even more magic to Spokane this season with a brand-new partnership in !!! For the first time ever, the team will be decorating select areas throughout the neighborhood, transforming one of Spokane’s most beloved districts into a sparkling winter escape. Beginning Friday, November 28th, the lights will officially turn on and will continue glowing brightly all the way through New Year’s Day.

SAVE THIS ONE! Some of the best sandwiches in Spokane, hands-down, are coming out of —tucked right inside Gander & Ryegrass, the most sophisticated fine dining restaurant in town. The ingredients are meticulously crafted just like a fine dining experience… because they are. Every sandwich is intentional, elevated, and built with that signature precision that Spokane food lovers know and obsess over. 🤤

My personal favorite on the menu is the bacon jam sandwich, a total flavor bomb featuring Mama Lil’s peppers, egg, chili aioli, and arugula. It has a little bit of everything to offer—rich, bright, savory, a touch of heat—and the house-made bread really puts it over the top. This is the kind of sandwich that ruins all other sandwiches.

These masterpieces range from just $13–$15, which feels like an absolute steal for the level of craft you’re getting. Affordable and as luxurious as a candlelit dinner. 🕯️

You’ll find Salt Box at 404 West Main, serving up sandwiches from 10 AM to 3 PM daily. Whether you’re popping in for a quick lunch or grabbing something to elevate your workday, it’s an easy go-to. And if you can’t get away, no worries—you can order through Uber Eats, Grubhub, and DoorDash and still get that fine-dining-level perfection delivered right to your door. 🚙

❤️‍🩹 I think we can all agree that navigating the healthcare system is very difficult these days. 🫠

A little update on me for those who have been following along: some of you may know that I have severe, debilitating asthma. It started when I was in my early teens, and has continued to progress throughout my life to the point where if I don’t have a specific medication, or if I get any kind of cold, I am down for the count HARD. It is no fun at all!

A couple of weeks ago I went to get my heavy duty inhaler refilled only to be told by my insurance that I wouldn’t be able to refill it for a couple of weeks. Every single day without it is *completely miserable*. Imagine breathing through a tiny latte straw exclusively, all day and night. It makes even doing the smallest tasks very difficult.

I was finally able to get in touch with insurance and my care team to get them to send over the prescription, only to find out that the pharmacy I normally use no longer accepts my insurance. Then, I had to have it sent over to a new pharmacy. The new one didn’t have any in stock and had to special order it.

It still hasn’t arrived. They insist that it will be on the truck tonight, but I had to get some additional relief today because I just could not breathe.

All of it is so preventable. I just need my medication, and I am insured! I can only imagine the nightmare that people without insurance have to experience on a daily basis.

It all leads me to imagine how many lives are lost unnecessarily due to preventable circumstances surrounding access to care and access to life-saving medicine.

Maybe someday we’ll be like the rest of the developed nations that are wise enough to have universal healthcare. Until then, I suppose we continue to muddle through. ❤️‍🩹

🦃 What I wouldn’t give to have the confidence of a street turkey in the Northwest just before Thanksgiving - especially with grocery prices being so high. 😅

Tag all the friends who need to know about this one!!! Miracle has officially returned to , and it is better than ever. This Christmas-themed pop-up cocktail bar is draped in kitschy holiday charm that feels like you’ve wandered into your grandma’s living room on Christmas morning in the best possible way. To me, it signals the official start of the holiday season in Spokane! 🥹

Their hours this season are Monday through Saturday, 4:00 PM to midnight, and Sunday from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, so there’s plenty of time to swing by for a festive drink. Our favorite cocktails are the Secret Santa - a rich, hot, buttered rum that’s famous for a reason - & Candy Cane Lane, which tastes just like a candy cane without tipping into candy overload.

I’m so grateful to the crew at Volstead for inviting me to check it out early this year, before the holiday rush hits. Every year I look forward to dropping in, sipping on something cozy and magical, and losing myself in that warm, absurdly joyful holiday world for just a little while. 🥹🥹🥹

If you haven’t been yet, you should absolutely follow their Instagram page () and check out their website to stay up to date on their seasonal menus, special events and more.

Also, seriously don’t forget about that taco hack with right next door!

Today in Yachats, a stranded whale drew a crowd of people who stood helplessly on the shore, hoping for a miracle that couldn’t come. Man, this hurts my heart. There’s something about seeing such a massive, graceful creature out of its element that makes you feel small and powerless. Everyone there felt it — that mix of sorrow, awe, and the quiet hope that somehow things might turn around.

Poor darling. I’m grateful it’s no longer suffering, because the reality is harsh: once a whale beaches itself, the sheer weight of its own body becomes unbearable. The pressure on its organs simply can’t be sustained for long when it’s no longer supported by the ocean. The marine biologists on scene knew that, and they worked with incredible care and compassion, even as they faced an outcome they couldn’t change.

Please, be kind to those who tried their very best today. The rescuers, volunteers, and scientists poured their hearts into giving the whale every possible chance, and when that chance slipped away, they stayed with it through the end. Their work is hard, emotional, and often misunderstood — but it matters deeply. And today, they handled an impossible moment with dignity, respect, and so much heart.

Sometimes friends just know. 🥹 The incredible, talented and kind .for.people (Katie Lila) dropped off flowers on the day that I got some amazing news that I’ve been waiting for over 20 years to hear.

Today I celebrated my first full day completely free of my abuser. I feel like I can breathe easier. I feel physically lighter. Most importantly, I feel safe & loved. 🥰

Thank you, Katie, and all of the phenomenal people in my world who know just when to give me a nudge of encouragement without having to say a word. ♥️
