Every new tax, fee, mandate, and regulation eventually gets passed on to you through higher prices. If we want Washington to be more affordable, government needs to stop making everything more expensive.

We don’t need another tax. We need lower costs, less government, and more money left in the pockets of working families.

Affordability starts with getting government out of the way, not growing it.

Housing in Washington is simply too expensive.

I sat down with KHQ Local News to talk about what we can actually do to bring those costs down.

Government cannot regulate, tax, and mandate its way to affordability. When government makes land scarcer, construction more expensive, and adds layer after layer of mandates, those costs don’t magically disappear. They get passed on to you.

We need to reform the Growth Management Act and open up more land for housing. Increase the supply of buildable land, and you put downward pressure on the price of that land.

We also need to roll back costly energy codes that have piled up over the last decade. We can build safe, efficient homes without making them unnecessarily expensive.

If we want affordable housing, we have to make it easier and less expensive to actually build housing.

We need to take these fires seriously.

I joined KHQ Local News to talk about what Washington should do next:

1. Treat arson with the seriousness it deserves especially on Red Flag Days. What happened with the Old Trails Fire was an act of domestic terrorism.

2. Don’t let government profit from someone’s tragedy. Families rebuilding homes they lost to wildfire shouldn’t be hit with sales tax on the rebuild and should receive property tax relief for an appropriate amount of time.

3. Get burdensome government out of the way. If someone is rebuilding the same floor plan on the same property, permitting should take weeks, not months or years.

We need to punish the people deliberately setting these fires and move heaven and earth to help the families who have lost everything rebuild.

This is crazy town. People doing what the government is failing to do and THEY’RE being investigated.

The government is buying needles and distributing them on the YOUR dime.

They are allegedly buying fentanyl supplies and paraphernalia and distributing them on YOUR dime.

Then, because Seattle and Washington refuse to deal with this issue, citizen groups like We Heart Seattle are doing it for the community and then THEY get investigated.

Absolute clown world.
