Until now I’ve been forgetting to show this Laird LC-1B-300 that is also based at WAAAM. It’s a particularly historic plane, as it was the timing plane in the 1931 Ford National Air tour. As you can see, it was a stormy day in Hood River, and I missed the one flight it did that day.

We get so caught up in the exterior of the plane, we forget that the pilot spends a lot of time seeing the instruments. As I progress on my Private ticket, I have ever increasing appreciation for those instruments being more than just looking good.
